L'Ecurie is attached to Les Marronniers, the permanent home of the English owners. The property was originally a very old farm with attached barns and a stable. The whole was beautifully restored and converted  by local artisans using traditional building methods. It stands in two acres of naturally planned gardens with views over a wooded valley and are an ideal spot for a quiet holiday by the swimming pool or for touring the Dordogne with its many attractions.

The owners have been here for 8 seasons and over the last 6 of them more than half of their bookings have been by people who have stayed before. They think this speaks more than any number of fine words.

The Dordogne region of France enjoys a long season and from April to October the climate is usually warm and sunny enabling visitors to discover the rivers, caves, ancient towns, markets, châteaux and vineyards which abound.

The market towns of Le Buisson, Lalinde and Le Bugue are only a few minutes drive and Bergerac is less than half an hour away.

Accommodation detail

The ground floor has been designed to allow full wheelchair access and there are no steps from the house to the patio, swimming pool, or parking area.

• Double bedroom - with roll-in shower room en suite

First Floor

• Twin bedroom - with shower room en suite on the first floor

The cottage is tastefully and comfortably furnished and has satellite TV and video machines. Heating, if necessary is by wood burning stove and electric haters. Laundry facilities are freely available.

About the location

MOLIERES

Molières, a beautiful 13th Century English Bastide, occupies an ideal position for exploring this lovely area of the Perigord.

Many important prehistoric sites are nearby, including the famous Lascaux caves, Les Eyzies and Font-de-Gaume, which provide the earliest evidence of man's existence in Europe. For those with an interest in history, the many medieval towns, notably Sarlat, Domme and Rocamadour, provide much to fascinate and intrigue. This highly prized land was once part of the dowry of Eleanor of Aquitaine, and her marriage to Henry II of England brought the region into English hands, beginning three centuries of conflict in the Hundred Years War. Molieres was founded during this period.

The region is internationally noted for its fine wines and Perigordine cuisine featuring foie gras, walnuts and truffles and there are many excellent restaurants within easy driving distance. Those who seek a good meal and a friendly atmosphere just a stroll away will soon make the acquaintance of our local Bar/Restaurant/Shop on the village square, this is also very convenient for bread and basic shopping.
