The owners aim to make your stay with them as comfortable, relaxing and memorable as possible.

The accommodation is a recently renovated farmhouse on the edge of the Limousin National Park, with many places of outstanding beauty within easy reach. You can follow the trail of Sir Richard the Lion Heart which takes you to many Chateaux and Cathedrals. 

The property is not far from the Dordogne Valley and the Charente and also only 20 minutes from the Martyr Village Oradour-sur-Glane. Limoges is known for its fine porcelain. The city lies in hilly country on the river Vienne, dominated by a great Gothic cathedral. With many parks and gardens and old narrow medieval streets. In Oradour sur Vayres there is also 2 restaurants/bars, a bank, several shops, a pharmacy and a post office.

Breakfast

When you stay at Maison Taupe a continental breakfast consisting of a selection of cereals yogurts freshly baked croissants bread, brioche, pain chocolate, a selection of home made comfitures (jams) tea coffee and fruit juice is included in the price.

Evening meal

We can supply you with an evening meal, including a glass of table wine, for €18 per person. Please note that all our home grown garden produce used daily when in season is organically grown You may wish to take advantage of this on your day of arrival or at any other time during your stay with us.

Accommodation detail

The family room sleeps up to a maximum of 6 persons (depending on how friendly you are) and comprises:

• One double bed
• Two single beds
• One fold down bed

It is also en-suite, and provided with towels, alarm clock/radio and hairdryer.

About the location

Maison taupe is in Les Tuilieres a rural hamlet just outside Oradour-sur-Vayres, and Only a few mins from Rochechouart, St Mathieu, St Junien and Chalus in the Haute Vienne south west of Limoges and the A20, one of the main routes through to the south of France, Andorra, Spain and Portugal.

There are daily flights from Stansted to Limoges with Ryanair and also from Southampton to Limoges with Flybe. Car hire at reasonably prices, from the airport.  For those of you wishing to drive or ride in your own vehicle, it is about 7 hours from Calais.

How to get here

When travelling to Maison Taupe by car or motorcycle, please be aware that France is a big country and we are not 'just around the corner'! We are around 440 miles/7hrs from Calais and about 370 miles/6hrs from Le Havre. It is possible to travel to us in a day from northern France or even southern parts of the UK. Many of our guests have done so with no problems, but one or two of our less experienced guests have been caught out by the distance, so if you are not used to driving/riding for more than a couple of hundred miles in one day, it may be worth considering an overnight stop en-route? If you would like us to email you a route which has been tried and tested please contact us.

Directions (from the A20 Limoges)

Exit the A20 at junction 33 bear right onto the N520 towards Limoges-centre / Perigueux / Aixe-sur-Vienne / Rochechouart stay on the N520 for about 2 miles then left onto the N21 towards Perigueux. Also following the river Vienne for about 13 miles then turn right onto the D699 for 8 miles signposted for Oradour-sur-Vayres then right onto the D901 for around 2.5 miles into Oradour-sur-Vayres then turn left opposite church D40 St-Mathieu. Complete directions will be issued upon application.

Overnight secure parking is available and we can also offer some mechanical repairs/assistance if necessary by registered moto mechanic.
