The village of Estaing in the Aveyron is dominated by a 15th century Chateau which is the home of the former president of France Valery Giscard d'Estaing.

Eguisheim

Eguisheim is a small town near Colmar in Alsace, in the Haut-Rhin department of France. The town's cobbled streets are lined with medieval half timbered buildings as seen in the picture above. Many of the buildings are painted in the traditional bright colours of the Alsace, blues, yellows, pinks and greens.

Above the town there are the remains of three castles, dating from the 10th-12th centuries: Le Wahlenbourg, Le Dagsbourg, and Le Weckmund.

The town is at the centre of the Alsace wine making area so don't forget to try some wines whilst you are there and maybe visit a few vineyards for some tastings. The nearby town of Colmar is also worth a vist.
