Home description

This delightful former railwaymans cottage is situated in La Haye du Puits on the Cherbourg Peninsula only forty minutes away from the ferry port at Cherbourg. The cottage is situated 5 minutes on foot from a bustling market town, next to the Green route footpath.

The town of le Haye du Puits has plenty of good bars and restaurants and large supermarkets. It also boasts a fine church, a Wednesday market and banks.

Accommodation detail

The cottage is typically French with tiled floors and exposed beams. Lounge, kitchen/diner, bedroom and shower room with separate wc on ground floor. Mezzanine accessed from kitchen has 2 single beds in the eaves of the roof. The whole cottage is heated by electric wall heaters, with woodburning stove in lounge.

Ground floor

• Lounge - a room with a comfortable seating for relaxing, television with all BBC/ITV channels and DVD/Video player - bring your favourites! Woodburning stove which is fully functional for which the owners provide logs to supplement the electric heating and which gives a very cosy atmosphere.
• Kitchen/Diner - a fully fitted kitchen with gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, automatic washing machine, kettle and coffee maker, all necessary crockery, cutlery and cooking implements with plenty of cupboard space.
• Dining area - the dining table and chairs allow for a very comfortable meal for 6.
• Bedroom - double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers
• Bathroom - with stand alone shower and washbasin.
• Separate WC.

Note: As all facilities are accessible on the ground floor the cottage is suitable for those less able - please do enquire if you have a specific query.

Mezzanine

Accessed from the kitchen, is open plan with 2 single beds.

Outside

There is a large lawned garden and patio with patio table and chairs and barbecue. Parking for 2 cars. 2 adult bicycles.

About the location

The cottage is situated in the  Normandy countryside, La Haye du Puits is at the crossroads between land and sea, marsh and mountain ... well - hill!

Nearby beaches (10 mins) are quiet even in the height of the season with sand and the excellent water quality making them ideal for children.

A short drive away is the harbour town of Port Bail, which has a horse-riding centre. The cottage is situated next to the 'Voie Verte' - a legacy of SNCFs railway rationalization, with more than 200km of tracks converted to footpaths and cycleways. Golf courses close by All the historic sites of Normandy, the landing beaches and war cemeteries, the Caen Memorial, Mont St Michel, St. Lo and Bayeux are within easy reach and the whole area has wonderful scenery and good traditional food.
