Hyères is one of the loveliest towns on the Côte d’Azur, with long palm-lined streets of elegant Victorian villas (a reminder of the fact that Hyères was the first town on the Côte to be discovered by the English in the nineteenth century), the town became a coveted Riviera Winter holiday haunt for British and French aristocrats and celebrities
