Mon Goût is a traditional Breton longere. On a country road, surrounded by rolling French farmland, the superior and spacious accommodation offers everything you could want and more. Mon Goût is an extremely spacious, very well equipped and comfortable home. The building is believed to be about 100 years old and it has been tastefully renovated whilst retaining many original features. Oozing character, there are exposed timbers in every room and the floors downstairs have been traditionally tiled. Part of the house was, at one time, used as a café for local workers, which is perhaps where the name Mon Goût (meaning my taste) originates.

Outside

• Patio area, which is in sunshine virtually all day – furniture and barbecue is provided.
• Very large, private garden with plenty of space to play.
• Ample parking space at the front of the house. The space above the garage has been converted into a small flat which is sometimes occupied by British owners. However the flat has its own garden and is completely self contained, so you will never be sharing your spacious private garden with other holiday makers.

Downstairs

• Exposed timbers and a wood burning stove make the large living room seem cosy and inviting. With comfortable seating and a sofa bed, there is also dining furniture for six to dine in comfort, off all that fabulous local French food! TV,  DVD, Video, HiFi, games, books etc are all provided.
• Just inside the entrance a ‘vestibule ‘area leads into a well equipped kitchen – with plenty of storage space, a gas cooker, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave and coffee maker.
• A doorway off the living room leads to an additional bathroom and toilet (very useful for those with mobility difficulties) and on through to a well equipped utility room, where the washing machine is housed.
• Cot, high chair, stairgates and baby bath can all be provided if required.

Upstairs 

• The large, light and airy landing has a full length ‘viewing’ window which overlooks surrounding countryside. A perfect spot for reading and contemplation.
• The main bedroom is a spacious double, with ensuite shower room (shower cubicle, toilet & washbasin).
• The second bedroom, is a twin room also with ensuite bathroom ( bath, toilet & washbasin).

About the location

Both Brittany and Normandy have a very rich and varied heritage and Mon Goût is perfectly situated to enjoy the delights of both. Normandy’s many monuments, abbeys and ancient buildings have influences as far back as Viking Norsemen in the 9th century. Brittany is steeped in history and very proud of its maritime tradition and culture. Both are famous for their cuisine. Seafood, Crêpes and Gallettes in Brittany and Calvados, Cheese and Cream in Brittany to name just a few of the delicacies available.

Mon Goût is just a couple of miles from the villages of St Georges de Reintembault (Brittany) in one direction and St Martin de Landelles (Normandy) in the other. Both are lively villages with a good range of shops, including – bakers, butchers, a small supermarket, banks, post office, pharmacies etc. St Georges de Reintembault also has a small Hotel/restaurant. All around is beautiful rolling countryside and pretty villages and yet you are just half an hour away from the sea. St James is a pretty, bustling small town, with a wider choice of supermarkets, shops and restaurants just 10 mins away. Approx 10 mins in the other direction lies St Hilaire du Harcuet, which has excellent shops, a large & vibrant market (Wed) and a tourist office, as well as a small lake and man made ‘beach’. Fougères, with its medieval architecture and impressive castle, (one of the largest in Europe) is just 20 minutes away. Mont St Michel – the 2nd most visited site in France (after the Eiffel Tower), is just 35 mins away. The fabulous views from the Abbey at the top are well worth the climb up cobbled streets and steps. Make a day of it and explore the Craft Shops, Cafés and Bars too. The American War Cemetery at St James is just 10 mins away. It is an oasis of calm and peace and a perfect place for quiet reflection.

How to get here

Just 15 minutes from junction 32 of the A84 (Autoroute between Rennes and Caen), Mon Goût is easily accessible from all the Channel Ports.

Approximate Drive Time:

• 1.5 hours from Caen or St Malo
• 2 hours from Cherbourg 
• 3 hours from Le Havre or Dieppe
• 4-5 hours from Calais
• Alternatively there are ‘budget’ flights from Birmingham, East Midlands,Stanstead and Bristol to Dinard (1 hour away), where hire cars are available.
