Home description

The Moulin de Lurais enjoys an idyllic and stunning position with wonderful views over the River Creuse.

The Watermill, Maison de Maitre and Farmhouse offer very comfortable and spacious accommodation and share the heated swimming pool, which is safely enclosed in a walled courtyard. There are spacious gardens, a long stretch of our own river bank, islands and a sandy beach. A recipe for the perfect French holiday. A very friendly welcome awaits you.

Barbeques, gardens, parking, swimming pool, terrace, garden chairs for all guests, table and parasol, and a 2 seater canoe

Suitability:

Children welcome, strictly non smoking, sorry pets are not allowed, the Farmhouse has part wheelchair access.

This former flour mill has been carefully restored keeping as many of the original features as possible and retains an atmosphere of the working mill it once was. The stone flagged ground floor, entered from the main courtyard, retains most of the original mill wheel and its workings, and is sited over the mill race.

The Ground Floor

• Seperate WC, laundry room with washing machine.

A staircase leads to

• Kitchen - Refurbished and fully equipped with 4 ring stove, grill, oven, kettle,fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and inside drying area. It also provides access to the private grass terrace, with weeping willows, barbeque, table, parasol and 7 chairs and overlooks the mill pond.
• Spacious open plan living room, dining area
• Living Room with fireplaces, wood burners, seating for all guests as well as an audio tape player, cd, radio and DVD player

The Second Floor

There is a large landing with three bedrooms,

• Two Double Rooms 
• Bedroom with three single beds
• Bathroom - bath with shower over, washbasin, mirror and WC.
• Separate Shower Room with shower cabinet, washbasin, mirror and WC.

Sleeps 7 max, a baby cot and high chair is available.

About the location

Tucked away in the south of the Val de Loire, this is an area of local authentic villages and towns, steeped in history. Particularly notable are:

• Angles sur L'Anglin (3 km) – reputed to be one of the most beautiful villages of France and acknowledged for its floral decorations, the narrow streets are a witness to its rich historical past.
• Chauvigny - A unique medieval town with five castles within the city walls and a daily falconry exhibition.
• Fontgombault (3 km) – Is a thriving Benedictine Abbey situated in idyllic surroundings on the banks of the river Creuse. The Gregorian Chants of Fontgombault are famous throughout France.
• La Roche Posay – A picturesque spa town famous for its golf, casino and spa bath therapy.

There is an abundance of information available at Le Moulin and at our local tourist offices. Alternatively you may just wish to relax and chill out and enjoy the picturesque beauty of Le Moulin de Lurais and its immediate surroundings.
