Les Nénuphars -  (the Water lilies) - is a very comfortable, two bedroom guest cottage set in idyllic gardens with a private sun terrace and swimming pool that commands views of rolling French countryside disappearing to the horizon.

You'll find privacy, space and comfort in this peaceful hideaway set in the depths of rural France.  The cottage is separate from the owners' house. They will ensure and respect your privacy but are on hand should you require any help.

Les Nénuphars is set in five acres of undulating grounds, the garden areas, shaded dining areas and the lovely swimming pool are there to be enjoyed. The saltwater pool (12m x 6m) is floodlit and the sun terrace has teak loungers and steamer chairs (with comfortable mattresses and large towels supplied for their protection!).  The pool house has an outdoor, secluded shower with hot and cold water. From the pool a white gravel path, bordered by lavender and red florabunda roses, leads back to your cottage with its own shady patios for alfresco meals and barbecues.

About the location

The location is rural. . .

The Haute Garonne department (the Gascony area) is in the foothills of the Pyrenees midway between the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts. The main town of Toulouse, and the airport, is an hour's drive. The Spanish border and ski slopes are also an hour's drive, yet the snow-capped Pyrenees can be seen on a clear morning (though the heat haze often spoils this view, you may be glad to hear!).

The region is - uniquely French. . .

Yes its rural France but there's more to it than that.  The whole "Gascony" area has its own traditions and history, and a country cuisine of its own.  You can discover excellent restaurants and hotels with speciality menus in many of the surrounding villages and small towns…………to sip a glass of chilled Floc de Gascogne, the local aperitif, while you study the menu is highly recommended.

The surrounding area is a network of lanes connecting hamlets, interesting villages and small country towns. Nearby L'Isle en Dodon is an example. This 15th century bastide village has a splendid church, boulangerie, patisserie, banks, pharmacy and even a wine cellar and a weekly market.
The region is almost traffic free and is waiting to be explored by walking, cycling, motoring or local buses.

The variety and range of places to see and explore include roman ruins, pre-historic caves, medieval villages, cathedrals, and, subject to the calendar, jazz festivals, local fetes and events, as well as specialised markets, agricultural shows and wine festivals.

Some random examples of places of interest are -

A drive into Spain through the Pyrenees can prove an exciting (and full) day - while a day's expedition to Carcassone the famed, walled medieval town is well worth the journey.
A bank of local literature, maps and local information to help when, or if, needed is available in the Cottage.

However, apart from local shopping forays or a visit to your favourite restaurant, you need rarely leave the poolside lounger or the shade of your own dining table to enjoy  Les Nénuphars for what it is - an oasis of peace and quiet in a corner of true rural France.

COME AND ENJOY IT . . .
