17th Century Timber Framed Cottage

La Grange is a stunning 17th century timber framed cottage that has recently been restored to create a practical comfortable dwelling whilst retaining it's old world charm. It is furnished and maintained to a high standard and set in 1/3 of an acre of secluded gardens amid rolling Normandy coutryside. You'll enjoy a tranquil setting and yet will be within easy reach of a host of sandy beaches and several delightful market towns. The grounds include a field for ball games, a private swimming pool (open between June and August) and a furnished patio & barbeque area.

 

Holiday Accommodation at La Grange

Ground Floor

  • There is a spacious lounge/diner with log burner in a granite fireplace (fire wood is included in the rental). It is equipped with English satellite TV, Radio/CD player, various games and a table that can comfortably seat 10. 
  • The downstairs bathroom has a full size bath
  • The large kitchen is equipped with an oven, microwave fridge/freezer, and washing machine. 

First Floor

 

Upstairs consists of 5 bedrooms and a second bathroom with shower.

  • Bedrooms 1 has a kingsized bed.
  • Bedroom 2 has 1 double bed.
  • Bedroom 3 has 3 singles
  • Bedroom 4 has 2 singles 
  • Bedroom 5 (a secure mezzanine) has a single bed. 
  • There is a possibility of sleeping an extra 4  adults making a maximum of 14, inquire for further details.

Garden - there is a patio/barbecue area with adequate seating for all. Between the months of July and August there is also a 18 foot (child secure) private swimming pool available for use..

About Chalandrey in Manche, Normandy

La Grange is situated on the edge of the extensive and breathtaking bay of Mont St Michel. The Mont is well worth a visit and is 25 minutes away by car. The cottage is situated between St Hilaire Du Harcouet (5 miles further inland) and Ducey. St Hilaire has a bustling open air market every Wednesday and numerous Bars, Restaurants shops etc. Ducey 3 miles in the opposite direction is renowned throughout France for it's floral displays. The nearest well equipped town to the cottage is Isigny Le Buat, it has all the conveniences and is 1/2 hour on foot through some pleasant woodland roads.

Further afield, all within an hour or less by car are the medieval cities of Rennes, St Malo, Dinan, and the 'gateway to Brittany' Fougeres, all of which are stunning.

There is a local water sports park for children, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, an aquarium, golf, fishing, canoing, cycling, horse riding and for the more adventurous hang gliding. The ferries for the Channel Islands leave from the ports of St Malo or Granville. The crossing to Jersey takes just 1 1/4 hours by boat, or 20 minutes by plane from the local airport.

Normandy is of course famed for the D Day landings and these beaches are easilt accessible. They form only a small part of the numerous spacious sandy beaches that dominate the coast. Some are reserved for swimming, others for water sports. The nearest sandy beach to the house is 25 minutes by car. If you are fortunate you may see our local pod of dolphins hunting fish as close as 50 meters from the shore.

How To Get To Chalandrey in Manche, North West France

The UK ferry ports of St Malo, Cherbourg and Le Havre are all within an hour or so from the cottage. Dinard airport is about 50 minutes.

Additional price information

In addition to the rental price there is a damages deposit of £150 required, which will be refunded after the final property inspection.

The rental price includes water, wood for the wood burning stove (between the months of September to April inclusive), bottled gas for the cooker and a weekly electricity allowance of 50€, which is more than adequate for normal use. Any excess electricity used will be deducted at cost from the security deposit.
