Home description

In the South West region of France, just 13 kilometres from the exciting wine producing area of Bergerac and 35 kilometres from Pérgueux (the capital of the Dordogne) is the village of Campsegret. We feel very lucky that our village not only has 3 excellent restaurants/bars serving French and international cuisine but also has a mini supermarket selling everything you need from Foie Gras to some of the finest wines of the area. 

La Gentilhommiere, a stone house, lies in a valley surrounded by fields and forestry. You can literally step out of the property and walk for miles without having to cross any major roads.   We are approximately two kilometres from the village and not too far from the N21 road, providing easy links to the many tourist sites this area has to offer.

• Bedrooms - All of our bedrooms have en-suite facilities and have French doors leading directly onto our garden.  We have decorated them in neutral colours and we think are offered at a very reasonable price.
• Tea & Coffee making facilities in all rooms.
• Rooms for the family - We are also able to offer two family rooms, sleeping 4 and 5 people.  Both rooms have two bathrooms each, thus providing a bathroom for the children and one for the adults!  One room has an interconnecting door, particularly useful if you have younger children.
• Breakfast - We provide a generous continental style breakfast, weather permitting is served outside in the garden. 
• Swimming Pool - We have a large swimming pool (deep-end 2.8 metres), with sunbeds and tables and chairs for your added pleasure. We have a covered terrace area, ideal if the sun if it becomes too hot!
• Garden - We think our garden is a lovely haven for guests wanting peace and tranquillity. It’s a good place to find solace, maybe sitting under a tree watching the butterflies and other wildlife that are positively encouraged to live here. If you are up early enough you maybe lucky to see one of our resident red squirrels searching the undergrowth for nuts.
• We have a pond teeming with very large carp that are partial to the odd piece of bread! We also have two pet rabbits (Doris & Bob) both whom live and roam freely in our garden. There is always something to look at!

About the location

Our house is situated approximately 2 kilometres from the N21 road thus providing easy links to the many tourist sites this area has to offer.

We are in a rurual location surrounded by forestry and excellent country walks.  You can walk for miles and not have to cross a major road.

The village of Campsegret (our commune) is also 2 kilometres away. We are very lucky to have three excellent restaurants all serving french cuisine with the added bonus for people with children that one serves pizza and international cuisine too! These restaurants are particularly useful for guests who don't want to have to drive to a restaurant. Some B&B's are situated a hour's drive for anywhere!

We also have a baker's shop who also sells a variety of other products including wine.

There is a wine shop too selling local wines and aperitifs!

We are also just 15 kilometres from the historic town of Bergerac with it's 2 weekly markets and 35 kilometres from Perigueux (capital of the Dordogne).

The coast is approximately 2 hours drive from here.

Bergerac airport (15 kilometres away) is a good little airport running flights from London Stansted, Liverpool, Southampton, Bristol and Belgium.

Bordeaux airport is approximately 1.5 hours drive via the motorway and appoximately 3 hours drive taking the village route.

Trains from Bergerac go to Bordeaux, Libourne & Paris.
