Le Beffroi at Le Puech Haut is in the tiny hamlet of Réal, part of the commune of Roquemaure, among the green rolling hills of the tranquil western Tarn countryside. Le Puech Haut was until recent years a traditional working farm comprising a large 19th century terre-cuite farmhouse, outbuildings and stables. The property has been meticulously restored over the past 18 years by its Engish owners. The barn was restored in 2004 to become Le Beffroi, with an authentic tarnaise tower.

While some of our guests never venture outside the property, there is much to see and do in the historic bastide country which surrounds Le Puech Haut - Toulouse, Albi, Gaillac, Carcassonne and Cordes-sur-Ciel are all within an easy drive.

The original stables were built a hundred metres from the big old farm house to provide warm safe housing for the horses and cattle required to work the farm whilst the pigs, sheep and often the farm workers lived in the adjoining barns; the long rambling building was topped in the middle by a massive pioneer.

Now these ancient structures have been thoughtfully and lovingly renovated to provide a luxurious apartment that is complete with all the up to date conveniences that are needed for the comfort and ease of modern life.

Where the pigeons once roosted there is now a clock tower that blends naturally into the estate and provides a focal point for many miles around. The clock house has full under floor heating for those occasional chilly evenings in early spring and late autumn.

Six people can sleep in maximum comfort and the accommodation comprises:

• Kitchen - is fully equipped with all the latest appliances and trimmings. It is, as the local tradition demands, a part of a south facing long single room sixteen metres long by six metres wide.
• Utility room - containing a washing machine and another toilet.
• Separate WC - adjacent to the laundry room.
• Lounge / Dining room - French doors open onto all aspects of the grounds and onto a terrace for al fresco dining.
• Bedroom one - fully furnished with a double bed with adjacent bathroom and facilities.
• Bedroom two - large, fully furnished twin bedroom and a full en-suite.
• Bedrom three - is in the clock tower and is a twin bedroom.
• Bathroom - has a separate shower and toilet

About the location

To the south is the Pyrenees while the rest of the scene is of meadows, sunflowers, sheep and cattle in the summer.

Across the fields can be seen small areas of natural woodland and these are the home to hare, deer and many other species of birds and other wildlife.

How to get here

By air: From many UK departure points to Toulouse Blagnac airport, several low cost airlines fly to here or to the nearby Carcassonne airport. Enquire for further details.

By rail: The London Euro-Star rail link to Paris and then TGV service to Toulouse is a very quick easy way to travel.

By road: The excellent autoroute road system can bring you to within 10 kilometres of the Domaine.
