Home description

Our two hundred year old farmhouse is situated in the village of Mittlehausen, in the picturesque Kochersberg area just outside Strasbourg, which is noted for its pretty villages and its food.

The main house is a half-timbered house, with colombage walls, both inside and outside, and blue shutters. It is typical of the architecture here in Alsace. Behind the main house, there is a small red brick, half-timbered cottage with large windows overlooking the garden and orchard.

The cottage may be taken as a private, self-contained gîte with two bedrooms. But it is also possible to rent one or two of its bedrooms as B&B.

The cottage comprises:

• Living room
• Kitchen - equipped with a cooker, oven, microwave,  fridge-freezer, dishwasher, ironing facilities. A washing machine is in the cellar, just under the kitchen.
• Two ensuite bedrooms - each equipped with a TV set.

The furniture is both modern and antique, with respect to tradition and comfort.

Outside

A wood built veranda with barbecue, behind the cottage, looks onto the orchard, a small fountain, and a garden where lots of herbs and roses grow. Additional cots and/or children’s bed can be arranged. All the bedrooms are furnished with old country furniture, including a writing desk and armoire and have good quality linen.

About the location

Mittlehausen has a true artisan bakery and a very good restaurant (reasonable prices). You can find all essential shops in the next village (1 km). It lies about 20 minutes north of Strasbourg. Marlenheim, about 15 minutes away, marks the most northerly point of the wine making area and near there are several other wine producing villages, each with their own charm, where you can visit the vineyards to taste.
