Villa with Private Pool in Beautiful Setting
Provençal House standing in its own grounds of half an acre (2000 square metres), in the beautiful arrière pays behind the Côte d’Azur. The house is in a lovely location, set on a hill with views toward the ancient hill-perched village of Fayence, a cascade of Roman-tiled roofs crowned by the village bell tower, less than a mile (1.5 km) away. Enjoy exploring its medieval cobbled streets, wandering through the village market, and lingering over an apéritif by the village fountain. Then climb to the ruined chateau ramparts for an unmissable view of the surrounding countryside, glinting with silver-leaved olives, dotted with hill-perched villages, and framed by the Maures and Estérel mountains that stretch away to the Mediterranean.
The villa is situated in a secluded and sought-after landscaped area of detached properties standing in their own large grounds. The pretty covered porch-verandah is the perfect place to breakfast before taking a stroll in the extensive gardens, among flowering oleanders, olives, figs and agaves. The pool beckons for the day’s first swim, or you might like to work off the croissants with a game of table tennis before settling back to laze or read on the spacious poolside terrace. Later in the day, you could try your hand at pétanque, or enjoy one of the lovely local walks.
The big house terrace, with its stone-built barbecue, is the place to dine while admiring the view across the valley to Fayence village, washed with colour by the setting sun and then dotted with twinkling lights. And be sure to take in some star-gazing before you go to bed.
