Beautiful Detached Villa with Pool

Tucked away in an 18th century rural domaine of seven period houses, this beautiful detached villa is located in rolling farmland between the Pyrenees and the Montagne Noire, 45 minutes from the Mediterranean, close to Carcassonne and just five minutes from the Canal du Midi.

The villa, converted and equipped as a permanent home, rather than just a gite, is set in its own garden of half an acre, accessed by French windows from the sejour and by a lockable door from the courtyard, with roses and flowerbeds, apricot, peach, pomegranate and cherry trees, grapevines and shady pines, with views across fields of sunflowers and barley towards the heat-hazed Montagne Noire.

Holiday Accommodation at Le Pigeonnier

Built almost 300 years ago, Le Pigeonnier has been exquisitely restored around the original pigeon-tower to incorporate stonework buildings enclosing a sunlit courtyard and pool.

The elegant sejour (7m x 8m) with its massive fireplace, the dining room, and comfortable bedrooms, all with beamed ceilings, are furnished with fine antiques and lovely soft furnishings.

The fully fitted kitchen, equipped for even the most exacting cook is matched by modern fully tiled bathrooms, and a utility room with washing, drying and ironing facilities.

Enclosed by these rooms is the pretty mosaic-tiled pool, flanked by stone-flagged patios with teak dining-table, chairs and sun-loungers, and tubs of bougainvillaea, pelargonium and plumbago; the area offers exclusive privacy and security for swimmers and non-swimmers alike.

For those who like to grill al fresco on charcoal, there is a brick-built barbecue with its own tables and chairs among the trees

• Other: Not suitable for the very young or non-agile due to the steep open staircase in the Pigeonnier tower. Heating/Fans provided depending on the season.

Situated 15 minutes west of Carcassonne Airport near the village of Montreal.
