The Orangerie lies in the middle of a lovely estate, with extensive lawns and forest. The house itself was built in the end of the 18th century and has kept all the charm of bygone days. You will enjoy the superb and vast  garden, which is beautifully kept, and bathed in peace, seclusion and sunshine.  It is a perfect place for guests who want a real restful holiday, visit the lovely sights all around, or for those who are on their way.

There are quite a few lovely restaurants a few miles from home and if  you stay for several days, you can even shop and have your meals at home, by special arrangement with the owner Marie-Christine.

Accommodation detail

The owner, Marie-Christine Gran, is happy to make you comfortable in every way, offers 4  lovely rooms with antique furniture, good bedding and ensuite bathrooms and shower-rooms, complete with all possible comfort.

There are four bedrooms:

• Two double bedrooms - with shower or bathroom ensuite
• Double bedroom - sharing a private bathroom with the adjoining children’s room
• Children's room - with three beds.

All the rooms are overlooking the lawnsand forest beyond , full south, and are particularly quiet, as the estate is totally secluded and the hamlet of Avernes consists of one or two houses and an old church.

Marie-Christine starts the day with her guests around a comfortable and entertaining continental breakfast, which she serves in the garden under the sweet morning sun, or if the weather is a little difficult, in the charming and spacious kitchen.

Of course, parents with small children can use the facilities of the house. Anyway, Marie-Christine wants eveyone to feel at home, relaxed and happy, as with close friends !

The place is ideal for academics and writers who want a quiet place, vintage car owners on the move, nature lovers and travellers who just want to discover Normandy's nooks and crannies.

About the location

This is also the Camembert , Livarot and Pont l’Evêque cheese-producing country, as well as the renowned cider and Calvados.

Culturally, the region is  very interesting, and there are many châteaux (Mézidon-Canon, Vendeuvre and its fantastic miniature antique furniture and lovely gardens, manors, St. Germain du Livet, etc...), villages and churches, all these mainly of the 16th and 17th century, to be seen.

Marie-Christine, the owner, will be happy to indicate to you a wealth of unknown sights and discoveries. Along the coast, Deauville, Trouville and Honfleur with famous beaches, racing tracks and  excellent restaurants!

With the new A28 highway, ROUEN is half an hour away and worth it too.
