This old auberge in the heart of the French countryside is being renovated to a high standard and in keeping with its age and style. It now includes modern guest facilities. With fine views, superb sunsets, woodland walks, wildlife galore … what more could anyone ask for?

The Property for a stop-over on your journey across France or a few days in our peaceful and delightful countryside among friendly people, this is the place for you.

Once an auberge, the property is currently being renovated to a high standard and in keeping with its age and style, now including modern guest facilities and central heating.

Spacious property and grounds with woodland walks, over 8 acres in total.

Excellent views to the south and west and beautiful sunsets. Our clear and unpolluted air gives superb views of the night sky.

Many varieties of wild birds including birds of prey, butterflies and occasionally deer, giving opportunities for painting or photography or just watching and enjoying.

• Breakfast and evening meal (if you wish) are taken in the one-time ballroom.
• The double rooms have tea/coffee facilities and hair dryer.

• Please note we are a non-smoking establishment and pets are not allowed in the house.

About the location

We are located in the tiny hamlet of La Martinie, at the junction of the D66 and D42, half way between Chalus on the N21 (about 40km SW of Limoges) and Cussac to the west.

This is a peaceful, rural location with countryside views and walks.  There are many fine restaurants either close by or (for gourmet standard) a bit further away.

In the Summer months many local towns and villages have fete days often with stunning firework displays.

Richard the Lionheart was killed while laying siege to Chalus chateau in 1199 and the area is steeped in history.

How to get here

The area is well-served by flights, by road and by rail.

By air: Flights to Limoges from Stansted and the NW of England (Ryanair) and Southampton (FlyBe).

By road: via the Channel ports (Calais 720 km, Le Havre 570 km, Cherbourg 610 km)

By rail: TGV/Eurostar (about 8hrs).

You can hire a car at Limoges airport and it will take you about 40 mins to get to us. We can provide travel instructions if required.
