Superb Dordogne Riverside Location
L’Escale could not be any nearer to the River Dordogne without actually being afloat. So if you are looking for a riverside location... look no further! We have views to inspire artistic creativity and a situation perfect for fishermen, ornithologists, canoeists or anyone who wants to enjoy the beautifully clear waters of the river. We will happily help you organise a weekends golf at the nearby courses, give you advice and information on local tourist activities or just leave you in peace to enjoy a quiet romantic stay.
Situated on the outskirts of the charming village of Siorac-en-Perigord, L'Escale offers both spacious double and family rooms as well as a studio apartment for those who wish to self cater.
Alongside the chambres d'hotes we also have the additional benefit of a large bar and our own hot stone restaurant - L'Grill. Served in the bar or on the terrace it is a fun, different and interactive dining experience that allows you to be in control of cooking your meal!!
The view of the Dordogne River from our terrace is wonderful at any time of day but particularly enchanting late afternoon/early evening (aperitif time no less) when the sun finally starts its descent turning the bridge majestically to gold - what could be a better setting for your meal.
If you have a passion for fishing the riverbank and bridge next to the L'Escale are favoured spots by local fishermen. Fly-fishing is also very popular during the trout season and the river is shallow enough in parts for waders. There is an abundance of large Carp and Pike in the river; Perch and Barbel are also plentiful. Canoes can be hired from a kiosk on the riverbank next to us should you wish to explore the Dordogne that way. A fishing permit is required to fish the Dordogne and costs 30€ for 15 days (obtainable locally).
Everyone who comes to France surely loves to eat and within this area most appetites can be satisfied, either on foot to local restaurants or by car to Ferme Auberges serving simple peasant food or noted Michelin starred restaurants in Perigueux. Another very french experience is the night food market held in nearby villages, a fabulous affair of buying food cooked while you wait from street vendors and eating your purchases al fresco in the market square.
L’Escale has its own private car park for guests and secure storage for bicycles/motorcycles and fishing equipment free of charge. We apologise but out of consideration for our future guests we do not accept pets.
Whatever your taste or requirement we will be happy to help or advise. Our aim is to make your stay at the L'Escale as pleasantly memorable and as hospitable as possible.

About Siorac En Perigord in Dordogne, Aquitaine
Siorac-en-Perigord is on the main route from Bergerac (40mins) to Sarlat (20 mins), in the heart of the ‘Perigord Noir’ area of the Dordogne. We are perfectly situated for you to appreciate the many tourist attractions, historical sites and activities on offer in this region.
It’s easy to see why this area has been called the valley of a thousand and one chateaux as towers, turrets and pigeoniers can be viewed at almost every turn, varying in format from the large historical Castlenaud with its educational displays of weapons and armour that will interest young and old to the romantic and beautiful Milandes, the once home of Josephine Baker (both 15 mins).
There are prehistory sites, water and air parks, gardens, caves and events as rich and diverse as the people who come to see them.
The village centre of Siorac is 5 minutes walk away from L’Escale with its sleepy railway station, church, post office, chateau, handful of shops and welcoming restaurant. For self caterer’s a well equipped supermarket is only 2 minutes walk away.
