A warm welcome awaits families and couples alike, in this comfortable, well-equipped gîte. Set in 25 acres of private land in the rolling hills of sunny Gascony, La Pouquette offers its guests rest and relaxation away from the daily grind. La Pouquette is located just outside the tiny village of Poupas, on the borders of three of the most beautiful regions of France - the Gers, Tarn-et-Garonne and Lot-et-Garonne. It enjoys magnificent 360 degree views of the countryside around - wooded hills and fields of sunflowers in July and August!

It is ideally situated to explore this lovely region. Historic towns and picturesque villages abound whilst wine lovers are spoilt for choice - Brulhois, Buzet, Gaillac and Fronton wines are all produced locally as is Floc de Gascogne and Armagnac. There are 6 leisure lakes within a 20-mile radius offering artificial beaches, slides and watersports. All have excellent on-site facilities. The Lot and Dordogne valleys, the Tarn and Aveyron gorges and the Pyrénées are within easy travelling distance as is the Atlantic coast.

Accommodation detail

The accommodation at La Pouquette comprises:

• Living/Dining room is spacious and comfortable with French windows opening onto a large balcony, furnished with 2 sofas, TV, Sky, DVD player, mini hi-fi system, Play Station, sideboard, dining table and chairs. A library of fiction and non-fiction books and family-viewing DVDs are provided, together with comprehensive tourist information and a selection of board games.
• Kitchen is equipped with 5-ring gas cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Small appliances include coffee maker, sandwich maker, toaster, kettle and mini-mixer. It is furnished with table and chairs. (A highchair is also available, if required).
• Bedroom 1 (family room) has a double bed, single bed, wardrobe,  chest of drawers (+ mobile cooling unit) and lovely, uninterrupted views of surrounding countryside.
• Bedroom 2 has 2 single beds, a wardrobe and chest of drawers (+ fan) and similar views.
• Bedroom 3 has a double bed, chest of drawers and large built-in wardrobe (+ fan).
• Bedroom 4 comprises of a double bed, cot, washbasin, chest of drawers, built-in wardrobe and views over the garden and surrounding countryside.
• Bath/shower room is equipped with WC, washbasin, French half-bath, and shower.  There is also a separate toilet.

Outside

There is a large covered terrace with table and chairs overlooking garden and pool.

The 10m x 5m swimming pool with Roman end has steps for easy access.  Next to the pool is a sunbathing area with sun-loungers, parasol,  barbecue, and table and chairs for al fresco dining.

There are also swings and other garden toys for young children 

About the location

Superb views over neighbouring countryside - our 25 acre site is a haven for wildlife. It is not unusual to see deer, red squirrels, herons and many different birds of prey at close quarters. Children love our horses, too. The property provides shaded seating under trees, garden swings for children and a selection of leisure equipment - 6 Mountain bikes, table tennis, badminton, swingball and pétanque sets. In the locality. "Spoilt for choice" neatly summarises our guests' impressions of this idyllic location which is steeped in history and French culture. There are local markets in Moissac (a world heritage site), Valence d'Agen, Fleurance and Lectoure - wonderful for fresh fish, fruit, vegetables, and of course, local produce for which the region is so famous. Visit the many châteaux and medieval hilltop villages, several of which are classified among the prettiest in France. Experience excellent dining at the vast selection of local restaurants offering menus to suit all tastes and budgets. Local wine/Armagnac producers offer the opportunity to taste and buy their products.  There are local fêtes where visitors are always made very welcome and special events such as garlic festivals, cherry festivals, salsa festivals, jazz festivals, son et lumière, and marchés gourmands (wonderful evening events that just have to be experienced). The list is endless! Hi-tech visits to the Space centre or the Airbus plant in Toulouse, well-marked footpaths for walkers with routes ranging from 5km to 26km, and prehistoric caves.

How to get here

By air: 

To Toulouse from Gatwick, Bristol, Manchester,Birmingham, Leeds and Paris (Easy Jet)

To Bordeaux (90 mins by car) from Birmingham, Manchester and Stansted. To Carcassonne (2 hours by car) from Stansted and Liverpool. To Bergerac from East Midlands and Leeds.

By road: A62 Bordeaux-Toulouse - Exit 8 (10 mins). Very accessible from all ferry ports. Calais -10 hours. (Detailed itineraries are supplied on booking)

By rail: TGV to Agen or Montauban from London Waterloo/Ashford via Paris or Lille
