Elegantly Restored Château with Panoramic Views

Château Ventenac is a vacation rental gite available for self catering holidays. It has ideal accomodation for groups of families or friends & is a perfect venue for a special reunion, birthday or anniversary celebration.

Located in the Languedoc region of southern France, this holiday house boasts spectacular views over the Canal du Midi, to the Corbières hills and the Pyrénées.

The 6 bedrooms & 5 bathrooms provide superb accommodation for 16 people (ideally 14 adults + 2 children). This French Chateau offers the elegant period charm from the 19th Century as well as modern conveniences including new cooking facilities and WiFi.

The terraced gardens and private swimming pool are designed for family fun with generous spaces to play games, relax in the shade or soak up the ever-present Languedoc sun. Dine on the terrace with its stunning views overlooking the Canal du Midi.

Holiday Accommodation at Château Ventenac

We provide a very high standard of accommodation. All but one of the bedrooms are south facing with stunning panoramic views across our gardens, the Canal du Midi and the southern France countryside. All linen and bathroom towels are provided. The 1st floor bedrooms are gloriously spacious with their own en suite and original restored features such as the polished oak floors and fireplaces. Each room is traditionally decorated with bedside tables, lamps, rugs, curtains, chairs, hairdryer and at least one table/desk. On the second Floor are three bedrooms which are furnished in a pretty French country style which complements the original terracotta tiled floors and exposed beams, and two family bathrooms. *Cots and high chairs are available on request at the time of booking.

Ground floor

  • Kitchen - the large traditional French kitchen has everything you might need including a starter pack of kitchen/bathroom supplies.
  • Dining hall - has a refectory style dining table for 16 and opens out onto a charming balcony terrace. 
  • The Drawing Room provides a cool oasis with comfortable sofas and chair  with a TV,video , DVD, and CD players.
  • A smaller TV room with satellite TV

First floor

  • 3 Double Bedrooms - are large with fabulous south facing views and ceiling fans and are all en suite. 

Second floor

  • 3 Double Bedrooms
  • 2 Bathrooms - both with bath and showers,

The accommodation is very flexible and extra single beds for children can easily be moved on request

Gardens

There are many shady spaces with garden furniture for relaxing and reading. At the bottom of the garden is an inground pool (8 metres by 4 metres) with sun loungers, chairs and tables and a lovely shady pergola. Steps lead down to a private lockable wrought iron entrance gateway leading onto the Canal du Midi (and only 50yds from the Vente de Vin where the local wine costs 2 euros for a litre!).

About Ventenac En Minervois in Aude, Languedoc Roussillon

Ventenac is a delightfully peaceful and friendly village, perfectly located for exploring the Languedoc region. The village has two restaurants offering a wide choice of menus and informal dining. There is a post office, a bakery open every day, playground for small children and boules pit. In nearby villages there are more restaurants, supermarkets, bakers, general stores, tabacs, cafés and bars.

The pure sandy beaches of the Mediterranean Sea are about 35 minutes drive away, with a choice of family resorts such as Narbonne Plage and Gruisson, with its unusual chalets supported on stilts. From the house you can see the hills of the Corbières range, with the Pyrénées behind them – about an hour away by car.

The famous medieval city of Carcassonne is 35km away, while the Cathar village of Minerve is even closer.

The Romans circa 1st century BC first established our biggest local city, Narbonne, as a regional capital. Today Narbonne is a delightful market town to visit with good outdoor café, fine examples of heritage architecture and boasts a well preserved section of the Via Domitia - an original Roman Road that linked Italy to Spain.

How To Get To Ventenac En Minervois in Aude, South of France and the Riviera

By plane - Ryanair flies to Carcassonne (35 minutes) , Beziers (35minutes) and Perpignan (50 minutes). British Airways flies to Montpellier (1 hour 30) and Toulouse (1 hour 40).

By train - High-speed TGV trains connecting at Paris and Lille from Waterloo come directly to Narbonne, which also has a motorail terminal, just 15 minutes away from the Chateau.
