Home description

This charming village house is over one hundred years old and has been the family home of Mark and Sally, and their two sons, since 2004. Located at the heart of the beautiful Pyrenean village of Arrens, close to the Spanish border, the village sits at an altitude of 877 metres and is directly at the foot of the famous Tour De France climb, the Col Du Solour/Aubisque.

The newly renovated accommodation offered consists of the entire third floor of this spacious house, with a private toilet and shower room situated on the second floor.  To ensure your complete privacy there is a lockable door separating the guest accommodation from the family home, and private access directly from the garden into the apartment by way of outside steps.

Whatever time of year you want to take your holiday there is always something to do in the breathtaking Val D’Azun. The list of outdoor activities available is almost endless, whether you want to expend lots of energy or very little. After you have spent a day enjoying the stunning scenery and crystal clear air why not sit amongst the fruit trees in our garden and watch the sun go down behind the mountains. To top off the experience you should sample a glass of local wine and one of the delicious cheeses made in the village.

• Studio bedroom - a very large comfortable room which contains contains a double bed, two single beds, TV, DVD player
• Kitchenette - which has tea/coffee making facilities, two electric hobs, small oven, microwave, fridge, table and chairs
• Double bedroom - an adjoining room with double bed
• Shower room - with sink and WC

Cot and high chair available

A large selection of DVDs, books, toys and games are available free of charge.

Outside

There are wonderful views of the mountains from both the front and back and guests are welcome to make use of the garden.

About the location

The village of Arrens is situated in the unique and unspoilt Val D’Azun where the landscape varies from towering snow capped mountains to lush pine forests, glacial waterfalls and streams to flower filled pasture land and clear blue lakes. Throughout the year the Val D’Azun bustles with the activity of living communities, farmers, craftsmen, and cheese makers happily rub shoulders with outdoor activity enthusiasts.

Although a small village, Arrens is full of amenities which will make your holiday more enjoyable. There are several restaurants, a bakers, butchers, newsagent, pharmacy and store selling local produce. During July and August the large outdoor swimming pool is open, along with tennis courts and mini golf. There is a weekly market in the village during the summer holiday period.

The thermal spa town of Argeles Gazost is 11km away and the historic town of Lourdes, world famous for its Catholic shrine is 22km away. For those who prefer a more cosmopolitan shopping experience the large town of Tarbes is a 45 minute drive from Arrens.
