The rustic charm of this house has been retained yet at the same time incorporating modern conveniences. The internal layout of this period family house is spacious and airy. There is exclusive use of the large swimming pool which is fenced to regulation standard.

The surrounding fields and vines provide a tranquil and picturesque setting. 

Holiday Accommodation at The Maison

The accommodation comprises:

Ground floor

• Kitchen - this lovely light dining kitchen has two French windows, one leading to a patio area to catch the morning sun. The fully equipped kitchen has oven, calor gas hob, microwave, integrated fridge/freezer dishwasher and island unit. The room has exposed beams and tiled floors. Doors leading to barn and hallway to dining room.
• Dining Room - elegant, spacious room featuring exposed beams, chandelier and ornate metal glass topped table suitable for seating six. Wooden floors with rugs make this a room for informal and formal dining.
• Hallway - leading from dining room the hallway with its wooden floor and chandalier has imposing original front door and curved wooden staircase.
• Lounge - large comfortable room with two two seater settees plus three seater, wooden floors, period fireplace and log burner. Television with Sky TV and DVD player. French window leading to patio area and then onto the pool area.
• Bathroom - bath, shower and washbasin
• Cloakroom

First floor 

Here there are two large double bedrooms both with three quarter height casement windows and scenic views of the surrounding fields and woods. All with wood effect flooring.

• Master Bedroom - there is a king size bed in this king sized room, wardrobe, and drawers, leading to en-suite with shower and wc.
• Double bedroom - with double bed, wardrobe, drawers
• Bathroom - with shower and wc.
• Bedroom - access down two steps to cosy twin bedded room with built in wardrobe.

Outside

There is a barn attached to the rear of the kitchen. The huge wooden doors of the barn open to allow storage for outside furniture and an area for playing table tennis. There is also a utility room with new washing machine.

The patio area leading from the lounge is a sunken area with eating area with wooden outdoor furniture and pergola. This area is surrounded by lavenders and steps lead up to the pool area with sun loungers and barbecue.

The large pool has been fenced  to comply with French regulations. The grassed area has been planted with trees, but still provides plenty of room for games.

About St Georges Antignac in Charente-Maritime, Poitou Charentes

A 30 minute drive will take you to St Georges and Royan (nearest seaside towns) where you will find safe bathing and water sport activities together with a large selection of shops and a not to be missed market at Royan.

A short drive north will bring you to the beautiful Cote Sauvage with its sandy beaches surrounded by pine forests.

Cognac (45 minutes drive) Vineyards, brandy distillery tours.

La Rochelle (1 hour drive) Old port is a must with its shops and street markets, for those who enjoy seafood a plethora of good restaurants.

Saintes (30 minutes drive) Historical town on the Charente river with roman heritage including amphitheatre. Good supermarket and shops.

Talmont on the Gironde (towards Royan) Small medieval village on estuary with picture postcard cottages and Old church. Mortagne (15 minute drive) Pretty marina with good restaurants.

How To Get To St Georges Antignac in Charente-Maritime, South West France

Flights

• Bmi baby from Manchester and Nottingham to Bordeaux
• Ryan air from Stanstead Ferries Brittany Ferries to St Malo – 5 – 6 hour drive
• Brittany Ferries to Cherbourg – 6 -7 hour drive Euro Tunnel – 9 hours approx

Leave the A10 at Junction 37 and head towards Royan. St Ramee is located on the D730 between Mirambeau and Lorignac.
