Nestling in a tiny pedestrian street in the original walled part of this medieval village of Bize, the apartment has been tastefully and comfortably renovated retaining its original character.

Bize lies on the banks of the river Cesse and the apartment is a 2 minute stroll from a cooling swim in its clear waters, or sunbathing on the ‘beach’ or grassy banks. (A lifeguard is on duty during the summer holidays).

All on one floor the accommodation comprises:

Open plan living room with:

• Kitchen area - brand new fully fitted kitchen equipped with electric cooker, fridge, microwave, toaster, and kettle. Crockery and cutlery is provided for 6 people (so invite in your friends!)
• Dining area - with pine table and chairs.
• Lounge area - Comfortable sofa, 2 armchairs and coffee table. A radio/cd player is provided for your enjoyment and a selection of books.

There is also:

• Shower room - newly fitted and fully tiled with shower cubicle area, toilet, basin with vanity mirror and shaving point.
• Utility area - with washing machine and an iron, ironing board and clothes airer are supplied.
• Twin bedroom - large room with comfortable beds, wardrobe and chest of drawers. There is also a wooden cot with matress (please bring own cot bedding).
• Double bedroom - another good sized room with a large comfortable double bed with wardrobe, providing ample hanging and shelf space. Access to the tiled courtyard is from this room.

Outside

Table and chairs are provided, with a charcoal barbecue. Charcoal is available in the larger local supermarkets (within a 10 min drive).

About the location

Situated just south of the foothills of the Black Mountains, Bize is arguably the prettiest village in the renowned Minervois wine growing area. Although small, the village has several food shops, a café/bar, 4 restaurants, a pharmacy, a newsagent, 2 hair dressers, a beautician, a medical centre and a wonderful boulangerie for your daily fresh croissants, cakes and of course bread. All are within a 3 minute walk from the apartment. There is a market each Wednesday.

How to get here

By Air

Four airports support this area:

• Carcassonne (Ryanair) - approx 45 minutes drive
• Perpignan (Ryanair) - approx 45 minutes drive
• Montpellier (British Airways) - approx 90 minutes drive
• Girona (Barcelona) (Ryanair) - approx 135 minutes drive

Several car hire companies operate from these airports. Our own experience has shown that Europcar.com is usually the most reasonable.

By Train/Car

Eurostar from Waterloo London connects at Lille or Paris with TGV direct to Narbonne. From there Bize is about 20 minutes drive. Nearest motorway exits are: A9 Beziers (36) or A9 Narbonne South (38) Also A61 Lezignan (25).
