Home description

Where is it

Calvados

Situated off a gravelled chemin, (bridle path) only used by occasional walkers and horse riders, this beautiful split level is let either as a three or a five bedroom holiday home, and has been rebuilt on the site of the old Moulin de Parfouru, situated some 17 km south of Bayeux in the old world Hamlet of Parfouru l’eclin, and only twenty minutes by car to the many golden sandy beaches of the department area of Normandy.

Incorporating a very large garden it is very safe for children, and a wonderful retreat to relax in, and enjoy the many old world features of this part of Normandy of which growing cider apple trees and the making, of the cider, features heavily in the locals seasonal schedules.

Le Moulin has been a summer holiday let for some fifteen years, and the owners have lived in France for the same period. This is their main home, moving out in the summer mainly between July and August, consequently it is a much higher standard than the usual run of the mill gite which can in some cases (but not all) be renovated by unskilled workers to a low standard.

What Is Available In The Area?

Le Moulin itself is completely private and surrounded by two acres of it’s own land, the villa faces south, a patio runs the length of the southern aspect, and has a high quality hard wood garden table with seating for all and a large parasol for shade, many of our guests eat out on this area enjoying the array of trees  shrubs and  flower boxes that abound the patio.

The nearest market town is Caumot l’evente some six kilometres away where there is a modern Supermarket plus two doctors surgeries and a well equipped pharmacy.

Medieval Town of Bayeux
The Medieval town of Bayeux has a historic and famous Cathedral. Old world cobbled streets, plus of course the famous Bayeux Tapestrey. It also has an abundance of hotels and restaurants, bars, Saturday morning Market, and during the end of June it is host to the Fete Mediaeval, which takes over the town for a weekend, here you can take a trip back in time and listen to music from a bygone age performed by dedicated musicians all dressed in period costume whilst you eat out
at the many open air restaurants set up solely for the weekend.

There is always an array of stalls selling the ancient delights of French food, like bread, cheese, and French Gateuax, wines from the many grape growing areas of France even, perfume and, herbal remedies, etc the list goes on and on.

Bayeux is twenty minutes by car, and in thirty minutes, you can be on one of the many Golden Sandy Beaches that abound the North coast of Normandy. Walk around quaint villages built of limestone, play a round of golf.  Visit a Casino, swim the channel if you like, but mainly do what everyone else does, just have fun.
