Seaside Villa and Garden, Close to Beach and Village

Lunasa is located 15km N/E of Perpignan, just 1.3km from sandy beaches of the Mediterranean and 500mtres from the lovely Agly river. It lies halfway along the flowered avenue between the quiet Catalan village of St. Laurent de la Salanque and the charming seaside resort of Le Barcares.

To the north are breathtaking waterscapes, while the coastal drive south takes in miles of sandy beaches and the scenic cliffroad south of Collioure into Spain, less than an hour’s drive away. The ski-slopes of the Pyrenees are within 1.5 hours by car to the south, the wine regions of the Corbieres hills and the Fenouilledes are each less than 20mins by car. Four bicycles available to explore on cycle paths along the river, the coast and through the vineyards. Horseriding, fishing and watersports nearby.

Holiday Accommodation at Lunasa

The house is bright and spacious, white-tiled throughout and newly furnished. There are electric heaters and fans in all rooms.

  • Kitchen - an American kitchen with breakfast bar has a large fridge-freezer, cooker with hob, grill and oven; and a microwave oven/grill.
  • Living /dining room -  large, bright open plan room where there is TV/ DVD player, Hi-fi radio/ CD player and air conditioning. Three sets of French doors open on all sides into the garden from the living room.  An annex off this room has a convertible double settee and can be used as a third bedroom ( collapsible wardrobe supplied.)
  • Bedroom one - with double bed
  • Bedroom two - with twin beds

  • Laundry  with washing machine and sink
  • Garage - fully tiled and painted, it is integral to the house (could be used as an extra bedroom).

Outside:

The garden has flowerbeds, fruit and palm trees, a barbecue and covered well which supplies the daily automatic watering system.

A tall hedge surrounds the garden, ensuring private sunbathing on the 2 large patios. Sun beds and patio furniture are supplied as are 4 bicycles.

About Le Barcares in Pyrénées-Orientales, Languedoc Roussillon

This is wine and Cathar country. The immediate hinterland offers the best of Roussillon and Corbieres wine-tasting 'caves', or visits to nearby historic sites and   the spectacular Cathar castles within 30 mins drive.

Throughout the year there are colourful twice-weekly markets in Barcares and St. Laurent and an early morning fish sale from the boats at Barcares-port. Restaurants abound in the area and supermarkets located 400m from the house.

At Barcares there is a night market, fairground and water park as well as weekly communal 'grillades' with traditional Catalan music and dance. This in addition to a series of uncrowded beaches and the sheltered inland lake of Leucate with its fresh oysters and mussels, windsurfing and sailing schools, fishing and boating..... and miles of unspoiled coastline.

How To Get To Le Barcares in Pyrénées-Orientales, South of France and the Riviera

Perpignan Airport is 15 minutes drive from the house, while Carcassone and Gerona(Barcelona) airports are both aprox. 1 hour's drive away: -all served by RyanAir and other economy airlines.  Aer Lingus flies direct from Dublin to Perpignan. The house is on the daily regular busline to Perpigan city. 4 bikes available also!

  • The garden and house are all on one level, all parts are wheelchair accessable.
  • Safe cycle paths and pavements can be used from the house into the village or towards the sea and beaches. La Voie Verte is a special and lovely walkway /cycle path to the beach along the river - great for fishing or  wildlife  spotting.
  • There are four bicycles to enjoy this or bring your own walking shoes!
