Impressive 17th Century Château

In the south-west of France, in the heart of Périgord Noir, the castle of Rouffillac overlooks the Dordogne valley. It was restored in the XIX th century in the Renaissance style, the château has a cool and shaded interior courtyard with a swimming pool and is surrounded by terraces and gardens.

Today, the residence is the ideal holiday place to discover Périgord and the Middle Age town of Sarlat.

Holiday Accommodation at Château de Rouffillac

Rouffillac's castle represents one thousand square meters on three levels. There are eight bedrooms, each vast, richly decorated and have their own style: Louis XIII, Louis XV and Louis XVI.

Ground floor:

• Kitchen - large with a vaulted ceiling, fully equipped for sixteen people, including a large fridge/freezer, a Godin cooking range, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and microwave.
• Dining room - which seats sixteen people
• Two lounges - each spacious with big fireplaces of Renaissance style

First floor:

• Bedroom 1 - with extra large double bed with an adjoining bathroom
• Bedroom 2 - with extra large double bed with an adjoining bathroom
• Bedroom 3 - with double bed and shower room
• Bedroom 4 - has a double bed plus a single bed and a private bathroom

Second floor:

• Bedroom 5 - has a double bed with a bathroom
• Bedroom 6 - shares bathroom with bedroom 5 and has twin beds
• Bedroom 7 - with double bed and en-suite bathroom
• Bedroom 8 - has twin beds with en-suite bathroom
• Bedroom 9 - has a single bed

Outside:

• Garage and a swimming pool. It is equipped for sixteen persons.

The staff of the castle is the guarantee of the quality of your stay. Every day the keeper tends the garden. A cleaner does six hours of free cleaning per week. Possibility of extra hours (chargeable). At your request, a cook will prepare your meals.

About Carlux in Dordogne, Aquitaine

Saint-Julien-Lampon (2 kms), has all essential shops, as well as a doctor, dentist and a pharmacy. The swimming pool has been recently installed and there are many walks through the grounds. The river is only a kilometre away, where you can swim, fish, and canoe.

The château is close to many of the medieval towns and villages of Périgord and Quercy as well as the amazing prehistoric caves of Lascaux and Les Eyzies with their prehistoric cave paintings.

Domme, perched high above the Dordogne Valley is a 13th century bastide village with pretty honey coloured houses leading to the market place and to a point that has lovely views looking down to the Dordogne river far below and towards waves of hills receding into the Auvergne.

Sarlat has a good market on Saturday mornings and is pleasant to wander around, and Beynac with its castle overlooking the village that clusters around it, are both worth a detour. Children love the aquarium at Bugue.

There are many restaurants to choose from here, from simple to gastronomic, which specialise in a range of regional dishes to suit every taste.
