Beautiful valley house in Brouains, near Sourdeval. Once part of a former Mill complex set in the pretty Valley de la See, there is good fishing nearby and many lovely walks. Within reach of beaches, Bayeux, St Malo and Mont Saint Michel Moulin Du Rocher.

The house, bordered by the River See, was built in about 1740 and renovated to a high degree in 1984. It sits on the side of the valley in over two acres of land with lovely views and a well maintained, walled, pleasant garden and patio, approached by a long drive with ample parking.

La Rocher, formally the Mill manager's house, is typical of the architecture in this part of Normandy and is very comfortably furnished with quality French country furniture.

Ground floor:

• Living room - is a large beamed room with a tiled floor and a huge stone fireplace with log burner. It is very comfortably furnished with a leather three-piece suite a large French dining table, compact disc player/radio and a television/video. There is a good supply of logs should you need to use the fire.
• Kitchen - is well equipped including a gas hob and dishwasher, a combination microwave, toaster and fridge/freezer plus all the usual kitchen equipment. The washing machine is situated in the cave.
• Bedroom 1 - with double bed. 
• Bathroom
• Separate WC

First floor:

• Bedroom 2 - with double bed. Being the largest bedroom it also has a single bed and a door which leads on to a small patio.
• Bedroom 3 - with twin beds.
• Shower room
• Separate WC

All three bedrooms are carpeted. A travel cot and high chair are available if required.  

Outside:

The garden is secluded with wonderful views over the Valley de la See. Sunbeds, table and chairs and a barbecue are provided for your enjoyment. 

About the location

The nearest town to Brouains is Sourdeval, which is just a 5 minute drive from La Rocher. The town has shops and supermarkets, bakers, banks, cafes and restaurants. A market full of fresh fruit and vegetables, together with a livestock market, is held there every Tuesday morning.

There are also many good restaurants nearby.

There is an abundance of history within the area, all within approximately one and a half hours drive. The beaches of the D-Day Landings and the Battle of Normandy, the American Cemetery at Coleville featured in the film Saving Private Ryan and the ancient town of Bayeux, where you can see the famous Bayeux Tapestry. The great cathedral of Le Mont St Michel and the beautiful beaches of the west coast are just an hour away.
