Home description

“La Grange” is a restored, detached barn set in approx. an acre of garden. We are situated on a plateau above the Dordogne Valley with views of the surrounding hills.

We are at the end of a single-track road so it is a very peaceful location with no through traffic except for the occasional tractor. This is a great location to relax and unwind with lots of tourist attractions close at hand. We are resident owners so are on hand for any information you may require but at the same time will fully respect your privacy. There are 2  patio areas, 1 directly outside your main doors which gets the first morning sun the 2nd private patio area overlooks the garden There is plenty of garden furniture and also a barbecue. Your car parking area is alongside your patio for easy access to your accommodation. The rest of the garden is mainly lawned with seats in various locations where the views can be enjoyed.

Beyond our boundaries it is mainly woodland, walnut groves and meadowland managed by our closest friendly neighbour. There are plenty of beautiful walks right from your door. One of our favourites is following the old goat track down to the village of Carennac.

“La Grange” comprises:

Ground Floor

• Spacious beamed living room/dining area with wood burner and satellite TV.
• Well-equipped kitchen with full cooker, fridge and microwave.
• Double bedroom is on the ground floor and overlooks the garden.
• Shower room and separate toilet next to which is the cloakroom, which also houses the washing machine and ironing facilities.

All of the ground floor is tiled throughout.

Upstairs

• Mezanine and the twin bedroom is off this with a large velux, which overlooks the surrounding hills.

About the location

“La Grange” is a 5 minutes drive from Carennac. The village of Carennac is a famous medieval village along the Dordogne River with the old priory at its centre. It is bustling with visitors during the summer months with a choice of restaurants and bars, a village shop for your bread and a helpful tourist information office.

There are lots of other beautiful villages to visit within short drives of here. Rocamadour, Collonges Le Rouge, Turenne and Sarlat to list just a few. The caves here are amazing and well worth a visit, the nearest being Padirac 10 minutes drive away. We have two very good Parc Aquatics, also within 10 minutes of here, with excellent outdoor swimming pools, restaurants and bars.

The chateaux are all around, one being visible from the single-track road as you descend onto “La Grange”. The attractive towns of both St Cere and Bretenoux are 15 minutes drive and have all our main supermarkets, busy weekly markets and lots of good restaurants and bars.

We are approximately 1 hour from junction 54 on the A20 motorway.
