A High Standard Villa in Charente Maritime with Private Pool

Many people look for a house with a swimming pool and a large private garden, especially in the vicinity of La Palmyre.

This villa has been given 5 star category by the regional tourist office in Etaules.

The house is in a large grass garden with a super pool surrounded by lots of pretty flowers and colourful plants.

The house is about 700 metres from the town centre of Etaules, which has all the facilities of a small town, i.e. bakery, small supermarket, newsagent, greengrocers etc. Etaules is right in the heart of the Arvert peninsula and La Palmyre is about 20 minutes easy cycling through the cycle paths of the Marais to the beaches. Within 10 km there are many superb restaurants and the town of Royan is only 15 minutes away by car. The house is situated off a small  side road and has no passing traffic. It is totally peaceful and tranquil…..with a private garden….a perfect holiday spot, just remember that you are situated in a small village.. there are neighbours nearby, you are not isolated in any way.. it is a good opportunity to make friends with some real french neighbours

We have a very very safe and secure garden with a high hedge all around and a lockable gate to the property. The garden is very child friendly with nothing to stop them playing anywhere in the garden. The pool is also safe being surrounded by a very secure fence and it has a lockable gate as well as an approved alarm in the pool itself.

Accommodation comprises:

• Large lounge with an adjacent dining area.

• Superb kitchen, fully fitted with all modern appliances and a large breakfast bar.
• Bathroom with a bath and integrated shower
• Separate toilet.

Outside

Large patio area with a barbecue and a full length sun shade which provides a superb place for "al fresco" dining. Adjacent to the patio area is a new swimming pool which is fully compliant with the new safety legislation in France. The swimming pool is be 9.3m x 4.5m

There is also a large safe private garden for children to play and if you wish to keep your car inside there is a full sized garage.

Your villa is provided with a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, full sized oven, electric hob, refrigerator, deep freeze, TV and DVD Player, which plays videos from UK, UK Satellite TV , Free wi-Fi connection, Hi-Fi system, iron and ironing board, enough crockery for double the number of people occupying the house  (12 place settings), in fact everything you would like to see when you rent a house.

About Etaules in Charente-Maritime, Poitou Charentes

The Arvert Penninsula

The villa is located in the pretty village of La Palmyre, on the Arvert Peninsula. This is situated at the mouth of the Gironde where it meets the Atlantic ocean. The nearest large town is Royan (20km) with Saintes (35km East), La Rochelle (60km North) and Bordeaux (100km South) also nearby.

The house is some 7km/4 miles away from La Palmyre in the village of Etaules.

Local Facilities

In Etaules, there are local shops within 700 metres, these include a small supermarket, boulongerie, Tabac, Butchers, and several other small shops. The beaches of La Palmyre and Royan are within 10 or 15 minutes travel.

Markets

In La Palmyre each Sunday and Wednesday there is a large market (Easter to end Sept.). The local Market in Etaules is on Thursday mornings in the town centre and is well worth a visit to buy fresh local produce.

Places To Visit

If you would like a day out you can visit Cognac and  the famous Cognac Producers buildings, just walk along the river-bank or take a boat-trip on the river. Visit the famous wine producing area of Medoc and perhaps find a small wine producer who will show you around his vineyard. A day out to La Rochelle can be very rewarding, great shopping, great street cafes, lots to see and do (including the fabulous new Aquarium and Marine Centre).

The Alternative

But lets face it, there are miles of sandy beaches and the sun is pretty hot, so why not take the easy way out and swim and sunbathe. The super beaches are all well supervised and have Blue Flag cleanliness status ... enjoy it. Or if you have chosen this house in Etaules, just sit out in the garden by your own private pool and have a barbecue.

How To Get To Etaules in Charente-Maritime, South West France

Travel to the area is straightforward.

By air: There are airports at La Rochelle (1 hour) Poitiers( 1 hour 30 Mins.) and Bordeaux (2 Hours) with either Ryanair or British Airways flying regular flights. Most car hire companies have offices at all the airports.

By car: Road travel is simple on the Auto-Routes and La Palmyre/Etaules is about 5 hours from St Malo/Cherbourg and about 8 hours from Calais (depending on traffic of course). The simplest way is to follow the A10 from Paris to Saintes and turn off for Royan, but of course part of the experience is to find your own route and avoid paying the Auto-Route charges.
