Home description

Where is it

Saône-et-Loire

This spacious four bedroom traditional Beaujolais house, set among the Beaujolais vineyards, has exclusive use of a pool which averages 24-29°C, cottage garden, shady courtyard and has roses around the door.

The house was originally built over the wine cellars, adjacent to the owners home, to accommodate the 'vigneron' (wine maker) who tended the property's vineyard and wine making. Our wine is no longer made on the property, and the old press room, 6 x 7m, has been converted to create a ground level kitchen, dining and sitting room with French windows opening out onto the court yard and out door dining area. There's also a log burner making this a cosy holiday let for the Beaujolais Nouveau week in November, Christmas or New Year.

The house, which has all modern comforts, offers wonderful panoramic views of the Beaujolais hills from every window, and the garden opens out onto the vineyards with views as far as the Mont Blanc.  The style is traditional, with the charm only authentic antique furnishings could bring.

The property has three acres of gamay vines which are tended by the owners who produce a Beaujolais Villages which regularly wins prizes.

The pool is open during peak and mid season, closing for low season.

We had the most wonderful time during our stay. The kids had toys and bikes, we had the swimming pool to our selves, and the family was helpful and kind.

The rooms were all fabulous and the beds comfortable. Lots of space for everyone and everything we needed.

We are returning in September for our 4th visit to this lovely property. Briar & Michel have always made us very welcome. The property itself is beautifully laid out  to suit as many or as few people as are in your party. It is very well equipped with everything you could need. The swimming pool gets the sun all day and the garden is lovely to sit/eat in the evening. 5 minutes walk gets you to to the local bakery & the local restaurant both excellent.

An airy spacious house, fully equipped with lovely cotton sheets and towels.  The warmest and nicest pool ever!  Our hosts were kind and helpful but unobtrusive.  They sorted out a problem with a missing case of wine from a distant cave with quiet efficiency.  Two cats and a dog were friendly companions for lounging around.  The only drawback is that the bath is quite small - lovely for kids but a bit frustrating for an adult who likes to chill.  I would certainly return

Really comfortable house. Made very welcome by the owners who were on site but in no way obtrusive. The house is large, well equipped and very well positioned. The area is great for walking and sightseeing. Close enough to a biggish village and surrounded by vines from which the highly drinkable house (literally) wine is made. Recommended.

Everything we could possibly need was in the house. The pool was perfect and our hosts were brilliant. Very relaxing holiday.
