Wine Câve Converted into Two Self-contained Properties

Le Chai is converted from the barn where the wine making used to take place, whilst La Cachette is the original house that sits above where the wine was stored. The two properties are located in the heart of the village and so all village amenities are within a few minutes walking distance.

Bize Minervois is a small picturesque medieval village in the famous Minervois wine region, close to Narbonne. The village is situated on the river Cesse and there is clean river swimming available in the village (which has a life guard on duty during the summer holidays).

Happy to consider changeover day any day of the week.

Great value, adequately-equipped and well-located cosy town house in a quiet side street, near to shops and the centre of Bize Minervois. Friendly and helpful welcome from the couple round the corner who greet guests. Parking available a short distance away. Roof terrace for eating and sun-bathing. A good base for exploring.

Le Chai is situated in the centre of a rural village. Bize is an excellent centre from which to explore the local area although you will need a car. We have just come back from our third holiday there and pre booked for next year already. Its in an area which is close to a superb beach, history, vineyards, fabulous towns and villages and excellent markets. We haven't got bored yet! Le Chai is a lovely, well cared for property which is obviously well loved by its owners. It is very well equipped with everything you need. The terrace upstairs is an ideal place to have a barbecue (get your steaks from the butcher in the village!) or just sit and have a glass of local wine. There are some very good local restaurants or you can get excellent local produce and cook at Le Chai. The kitchen is probably better equipped than mine! The website pictures (for once) do not do its charm justice. I would thoroughly recommend a holiday here, and have done so to a number of my friends already.

This is a a lovely place. Nick and the people who look after the apartment are very helpful. The flat had everything we needed, although one of the beds could not be used.

We rented bikes from Phil in Mellow Veloes. They were good bikes and it is a wonderful area to cycle in.

We loved our first visit to Bize so much that we are returning for our 4th summer in a row!

Our first and second visits to this enchanting part of France we stayed in La Cachette and last year we stayed in Le Chai.  We are counting down the days until we are back there this summer.

We felt that both cottages have their individual charms and are situated in very well within the old part of this pretty medieval village.

La Cachette is perfect for a couple and also has a handy single bedroom for kids or friends. We spent many evenings on the small terrace outside the main door using the built in barbeque.  The main bedroom has a lovely view over the village and the hills in the background.

Le Chai offers more space and a wonderful sun terrace on the top floor.

Every time we have visited we have always found both houses to be thoroughly clean and well stocked with everything you may need for staying in this part of France (including multiple corkscrews).

We have been warmly welcomed on each of our visits by the couple who look after the property who will gladly show you around the town.

The area itself is magical with countless things to do, as I said, this summer will be our 4th visit in a row!

We spent one week in Le Chai. It is a wonderful old village house. It is very comfortable, with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a lovely terrace with a barbecue and a kind of "winter garden". Even in the hottest days the ground floor was pleasantly cool. The kitchen has all the utensils and kitchenware you need.

The village itself is picturesque, people are very friendly and many of them speak English. Every morning and evening you hear melodic tones of bells from the church nearby. It is worth to visit the local market and wine cellars in neighbouring villages. We were there during local festival of olives - the Olivier - and we spent a lot of time by tasting local olives, wines and other products. In the near village Oullibo there is an "olive" museum, very interesting. The countryside is incredible with vineyards all around and many ruins of Cathar castles (do not forget to visit Peyrepertuse), historical towns (Beziers, Narbonne, Carcassonne), possibility of sailing on the Canal du Midi, etc. etc. If you like technology visit the Airbus company in Toulouse.

Many thanks to Bertie and Cattie for their friendly welcome and necessary help. We are thinking of coming back to Le Chai next year for longer time and we would recommend it to everyone.
