About Ste Osmane in Sarthe, Pays de La Loire
Ste Osmane is a quiet, friendly village with a recently renovated church, picnic area, marked walking trails and is particularly attractive during spring and summer when the carefully tended flower beds are in full bloom. The village has been awarded 3" flowers" and a special prize in the national "fleurissement de France" classification.
The nearest shops are in the two neighbouring villages of Evaille and Tresson (both approximately 2.5kms) with large supermarkets and other shops at Le Grand Luce, St Calais and Bouloire (all about 10 kms).
Every local village has a small market once a week and the nearby towns of St Calais, La Ferte Bernard, Vendome and Chateau du Loir feature vibrant markets as well as many other attractions - historic buildings, river boat rides, museums, parks and gardens etc. For children there are water parks, zoos, train rides, nature reserves and theme parks.
The City of Le Mans with its Plantagenate Old Town and city walls, impressive cathedral and world renowned race circuit is easily reached in a 30 minute drive. Excellent food markets featuring local produce are held in front of the cathedral three times a week and there are guided walking tours of the old town.
For our guests we have incorporated a wide variety of nearby tourist attractions into a self-drive tour starting at Le Cedre and taking in sights and activities such as Troo's troglodyte dwellings, the chateau and gardens at Courtanvaux, wine tasting at Ruille sur Loir, walking or mountain biking in the forest of Berce and the activity lake and beach at Marcon. Suggested picnic stops and restaurants are included in the itinerary as well as detailed driving directions. Other trips we have prepared include the chateaux of the Loire, the Normandy landing beaches and the Alpes Mancelles.
Stay another day and visit Paris! The TGV from Le Mans or Vendome takes you to Paris Montparnasse in less than an hour. Selected trains also stop at Eurodisney.
