Charming and Authentic Bed & Breakfast
La Closerie Saint Martin offers B&B and half-board in the 14th and 17th century outbuildings of a former priory, 6 km from Chinon in the Loire Valley. It is located in a small typical Touraine village with buildings constructed from local 'tuffeau' stone and slate, and surrounded by vineyards (Chinon AOC).
The Closerie Saint Martin has been purchased in March 2009 by an enthusiastic young swiss couple who have taken over an activity that has run for five years. The property has undergone full renovation, adding modern comfort whilst preserving period features (beams, terracotta tiles, floorboards, and fireplace). As the door to La Closerie Saint Martin is pushed open, one is struck by the calm and serenity emanating from the flowered courtyard behind closed walls, surrounded by an environment filled with history. Your hosts, Katharina and Marcel have travelled extensively around the world and are fluent in English, Spanish, German and French. During their travels they often dreamed about creating a home away from home for travellers and tourists, providing everything that they missed during their own travels. Be assured to be welcomed with a smile. The Guest Book (Livre d’Or) bears testimonials from guests from the UK, Ireland, US, Australia, Netherlands, Russia, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Spain, South Africa, Israel and an other 20 countries.

Five spacious double rooms, each with private access, are available.

Each room, save Le Frère Tourier and La Roche Bleue, both on ground floor, is located on a first floor, decorated with quality antique furniture, and has fully equipped en-suite facilities (toilet, bath or shower, and hair-drier).
Evening meals are available upon reservation. In warmer weather, breakfast and meals are eaten outdoors on the terrace.
The houses are built on caves, which were originally part of an underground network beneath the hamlet. Our guests can choose the wine to drink with their meal directly in these authentic Chinon caves, and view there the ancient bread oven and an interesting well. Aperitif and wine tasting also take place in this magnificent cave.
External features include a flowered terrace and garden.
