Home description

• Each gîte for an adult couple (or one adult, holidaying alone) only.
• Carefully renovated from a 19th Century Quercynoise Barn, the 2 gîtes ("Le Fenil" and "Le Râtelier") are at ground level and are well-appointed, unpretentious, and largely furnished in the French country style (ie not Ikea !!).
• Completely separated from and independent of each other.
• Peaceful secluded setting, 19km South West of Cahors, in the heart of the beautiful undulating Quercy Blanc countryside.
• Centrally positioned (along with the resident owners' farmhouse) in 6 acres of enclosed country grounds, just 100m along a well-surfaced private drive off a minor road. Guests are welcome to roam.
• Free from the noise of holidaying children.
• The swimming pool (12m x 6m), which has steps at the shallow end, is refilled each April from our own spring. It is bordered by an attractive Zen stone garden, enclosed lawns and a further planted rockery. It is carefully situated, private, and not overlooked. The occupants of the 2 gîtes have exclusive use of the pool and surrounds, and sun-loungers and parasols.
• Complimentary seasonal produce from owners' productive kitchen garden.
• Plenty of "good-underfoot" level space for football, frisbee etc.
• Use of washing machine. Barbecue. Bicycles available. 
• Helpful yet discreet resident owners, Brigitte and Peter, who are respectively French and English.
• We have only these two gites !!!!

Spacious (floor area approx 60 m2) gîte comprising:

• Large kitchen / dining room / lounge
• Bedroom with double bed and wash-basin
• W/C and shower room

Much of the interior wall is exposed stone with interesting niches and features.

Outside:

• Own private garden with tiled patio, teak table /chairs and parasol.

About the location

• In the heart of the Quercy Blanc, 19 km SW of Cahors (the largest town - though population only about 20,000 - of the Lot Département) which is towards the North of the Midi-Pyrénées region and south of the touristy Dordogne area.
• Convenient for three small attractive towns: Castelnau-Montratier, Lauzerte and Montcuq, all with shops restaurants and seasonal markets.

Split between those driving here, from UK, via ferry / tunnel, and those flying / hiring car is approx 50 / 50.

Of those driving from the UK about half drive “in one go” and half enjoy a B&B or hotel stop en route.
