1 Impasse des Oiseaux is a modern, fully re-furnished, detached house at the end of a private close, containing only 2 other houses.

The house has a full width balcony where you can sit and look out across the River Cher valley and the distant vineyards. The house and large front garden face south and you can enjoy barbecue's in the sun, or just relax in the shade of the trees. 

The house is just 17km from the Chateau of Amboise, 9km from the famous chateaux of Chenonceau, and 12 kilometres from Cheverny. There are local caves and wine tasting less than 10 minutes away.

1 Impasse des Oiseaux is situated just outside the village of Montrichard, 1 mile from the village itself, and within walking distance of the local supermarket.

Accommodation detail

The majority of the living area is in the upper section of the house, and was partially re-decorated and re-furnished in October / November 2003.

• Lounge is very light and airy, with double doors opening directly onto the south-facing balcony. Fully equipped with dining table (which can seat 8) 2 & 3 seat leather sofas, coffee table, fully stocked bookcase (including games),CD player with a large number of CD's,  SKY Television and Radio and a large electric fan! There is a telephone for incoming calls and emergency calls.
• Kitchen, which overlooks the front garden (home to red squirrels!), is fully equipped with new Fridge/ Freezer, Microwave, Gas+Electric Cooker with extractor hood, kitchen table & stools, Coffee Machine, lots of cutlery and crockery, and plenty of storage space.
• Main bedroom has a comfortable double bed, two large wardrobes, 2 bedside cabinets with lamps, a Sony Alarm Clock/Radio and a delightful view towards Montrichard. On a clear morning you can see the Castle Keep!!
• Second bedroom has two single beds, a large Double Wardrobe, and 2 bedside cabinets with lamps.
• Third bedroom is actually off the lounge, and has two full-sized beds (which can convert back into comfortable chairs during the day, if necessary). There is a large double wardrobe, and a bedside cabinet with lamp.
• Large bathroom has a full-sized bath and shower, electric shaver/toothbrush point, a laundry basket, and plenty of room!!
• There is also a separate toilet.
• Downstairs (at ground level) there is a large utility room. This contains a Washing Machine and Drying area, Ironing Board and Iron, Bar-B-Q and Tools, outdoor Table and Chairs, and a huge Basin for washing dirty boots etc!!
• Integral garage is massive (room for 2 cars, including a Mitsubishi Shogun!!), and houses 4 Bicycles (2 Adults / 2 Teenage) the downstairs toilet, and the Oil-Fired Central Heating system. There is acres of room down there for storing all the necessary holiday gear.

Outside

Immediately in front of the house there is a hard-standing area, which can accommodate 5/6 cars, and is ideal for boules!! Beyond the hard-standing is the front-garden, which is home to a huge Pine Tree, which provides lots of welcome shade when you are sitting in the garden.

About the location

Montrichard

Montrichard is a delightful French town, with the stunning River Cher flowing right through its heart!!! The town is very traditional, and has lots of bakers, chocolate shops, butchers, banks, cosy bars, a hardware shop, many eating places in all price ranges, markets on Monday and Friday, a very quaint Tourist Office, and a little computer shop with Internet Facitilties for you busy business people!

A sandy beach has been created on the River Cher, in the town centre, with Kayaks and Pedaloes, a children’s play area, and a delightful little bar and café.
During the summer, there are boat trips on the River Cher which are most enjoyable for all the family.

Surrounding Areas

Montrichard is set in the heart of the Loire Valley Chateau Region. The most spectacular of these is Chenonceaux, which is only ten minutes from our front door!! Then there is the magnificent Chateau at Amboise, which is also home to the residence of Leonardo Da Vinci, which has been brilliantly restored, along with many of his inventions, by IBM. You can spend a delightful day exploring  the grounds and the house, which is about 10 minutes walk from the Chateau. Amboise has lots of fascinating shops and eating places, and has the RIVER LOIRE running through the City centre. Additionally, there is a fantastic Market every Sunday, selling everything from live ducks to the latest French fashions!!!!

There is a magnificent Chateau at Blois, which is about 30 minutes drive due North, and the Son-et-Luminere is well worth a visit!!
Blois also has plenty of great shops, and lots of bars and restaurants.

Lastly, the Chateau at Cheverney, inspiration for the cartoon character Tintin, is just 20 minutes drive away. The other added attraction at Cheverney is its 18-Hole Golf Course. Other courses can be found at Loches (9-Hole) and Golf La Carte (a good nine hole course) at Chouzy-sur-Cisse.

Tour De France

Most years the Tour de France visits the Loire Valley. In 2005 we spent a very enjoyable day watching the time trial speed through Chaumont-sur-Loire, on its way from Tours to Blois.
This a  fantastic day out, with a 2-hour cavalcade preceding the riders, featuring all sorts of amazing vehicles, and their passengers bombarding the spectators with sweets and gifts!!!!!!! Even if you do not enjoy cycling, this is a great fun day out for all the family….and it’s FREE!!!!!!!!!

Wine-tasting – Mushroom Caves – Walking in the Forests – Fishing in the River Cher – Museums – Aquariums  - The City of Tours (a 30 minute train journey from Montrichard).

How to get here

Montrichard is approximately 20 miles due east of Tours and 8 miles south of Amboise.

From Dieppe it is a comfortable 5 hour drive, and from Calias / Boulogne it is about 6.5 hours.

Ryan Air fly to Tours International, from London Stansted.

Additional price information

• Our prices listed above include all the facilities above, gas and electricity, bed linen, heating, water and 4 bicycles. The only items we do no provide are consumables (ie washing powder etc) and towels.
• Changeover day is Saturday, with arrivals from 3pm onwards, and departures before 10.00am. Departures and arrivals are handled by our agents who live very nearby.
• Longer lets will be subject to discount by negotiation.
