Nestled on the bank of the Dordogne river between the two French villages of Gardonne (10 Mins walk) and Saint Pierre D’Eyraud (20 mins Walk), River View is typically French.

Gardonne is the larger of the two villages; both have bars, restaurants, supermarkets, bakers and butchers. Gardonne also has a small market every Tuesday ideal for fresh produce fruit veg etc.

If you are looking for a peaceful holiday, a place to relax, a place to get away from it all, but also a place with easy access to vineyards, lakes, medieval towns then

‘River View’ could be the holiday for you.

Stone built, on the ground floor it features

Ground Floor:

• Spacious living area with ample seating
• Open plan dining / kitchen area fully equipped with all modern conveniences, dishwasher, washing machine, and microwave and a large table for 6, satellite TV and DVD.
• The lounge has large patio doors leading onto a private terrace with BBQ and stone table, ideal for late lazy summer breakfasts or long evening BBQ’s. Leading from the lounge there is
• Superb double bedroom with large patio doors, leading out onto the back, benefiting from the morning sun and the river facing terrace.
• The toilet
• The separate bathroom/ toilet

First Floor:

• Further two bedrooms 1 double and 1 twin, both having superb views over the gardens and river.
  (Air Circulation fans are provide in all bedrooms, each bedroom has ample hanging and wardrobe space).

Outside:

The house features front and back gardens, the front being equipped with large plunge pool (solar heated) patio area and terrace. The rear, also with terrace and Patio, is large mainly grassed with trees and leads down directly onto the banks of the Dordogne River.

About the location

• St Foy le Grande which has many shops bars and restaurants and a large Saturday market ( 8 kms).
• Bergerac is within a 10 kms and has shops cafes, restaurants, markets and many other tourist attractions, such as museums, and boat trips.
• Eymet, during July and August boasts a very popular night market recently featured on the channel 4 series ‘No going back’.

Further along the Dordogne river, are the world famous caves of Les Eyzes, historic villages of Roque Gageac, Baynac and Domme.

• Chateau de Vigier an 18 hole par 72 golf course with two restaurants and a good selection of local wines including their own wine label (18 kms).
• Base de Loisir is within 10kms this is a superb leisure lake with sandy beach water slide, canoes and pedalos, picnic tables, a bar, fishing, swimming and tennis, ideal for all ages.

There are many superb annual wine fairs, food festivals and events within the area, such as Bastille Day, Table de Cyrano and numerous others, if you wish your holiday to coincide with one we will be happy to provide dates and information.

How to get here

'River View' is within easy reach of two airports, Bordeaux, approx 1 hours drive, served by the main airlines BA, Air France and the budget airlines BMI Baby (Birmingham, Manchester) and Flybe (Norwich, Southampton, Bristol). The second airport is Bergerac only 25 min drive and it is served by the budget airlines of Ryanair (Stansted, Liverpool, East midlands) and FlyBe (Leeds Bradford, Southampton, Bristol, Exeter).

Additional price information

• Changeover day is normally Saturday but flexible during the lower season.
• The above rental rates are for 4-6 people, discounts may be available. Please email for full details. Changeover day is normally a Saturday.
• Rental rates are all inclusive of, gas, electricity, all bed linen and towels (including pool towels). There is also an arrival pack for guests which includes tea, coffee, water, wine etc. There is a small surcharge for heating during the off season (cooler) periods if required, again please e mail for full details.

• Welcome brochures covering the local area, restaurants and tourist attractions, a wine tours brochure and a golfing brochure are all available in the cottage.
• If you have any special requirements, we will do our best to meet them.
