Former railway station, and separate independent “dolls house” cottage, both totally renovated in 2005, with air conditioning in the bedrooms, swimming pool and 12,000 square metres of wooded land near Uzes and the Pont du Gard.

Property details

These two houses are for rent - the owner will be on site in the unlet property and can provide assistance if required.  They are situated on the Uzes-Ales road just outside the village of Montaren (3 kms from the mediaeval town of Uzes). On one side of the land there is access to a track (former road) which leads to a small river and  the two neighbouring mediaeval villages - a pleasant walk or cycle ride

Holiday Accommodation at Main House

This house can provide very comfortable accommodation for six and can sleep up to ten by special arrangement.

Downstairs:

  • Semi-open plan design with cloakroom, large sitting/dining room and separate kitchen (former ticket office), both with huge French windows opening onto south-facing but shaded terrace to enable al fresco living in the summer.

First floor:

  • Master large double (160 cm bed) bedroom, with en-suite bathroom and reversible air conditioning
  • One bedroom with large (160) cm double bed and reversible air conditioning
  • Another room with two single beds and reversible air conditioning
  • Shower room/wc

Second floor:

(reached by a steep staircase, not suitable for disabled or very small children)

  • Large attic with large (160 cm) double bed, 2 single beds, en-suite shower room

Facilities:

  • Fully equipped kitchen (built-in oven, induction hob, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, toaster, food mixer and blender), plenty of crockery and utensils.
  • Flat screen TV, satellite dish/aerial accessing BBC, ITV etc., as well as French TV.  DVD/CD Player, ADSL broadband with wi fi. 
  • Electric heaters and large wood burning stove downstairs, reversible air-conditioning (cooling/heating) in first floor bedrooms and heaters/heated towel rails in all bathrooms.
  • Garden furniture and barbeque equipment on terrace outside.
  • Sun loungers beside swimming pool.

About Montaren Et St Mediers in Gard, Languedoc Roussillon

In the house there is a file packed full of ideas for interesting places to go and things to do, but for a sample:

  • The delightful mediaeval town of Uzes, with plenty of shops, restaurants and its well renown Saturday market is only three kilometres away, and can be reached by cycling along a track at the back of the house in about 15 minutes or by car in five minutes.  In the summer months there is a Music Festival, a Wine Festival and a Fete Votive in addition to many other events .  Walking tours of the town and also of the many mediaeval villages in the surrounding area are organized by the tourist office.
  • Further afield, approx 45 minutes to the west  are the foothills of the Cevennes, made famous by Robert Louis Stevenson and 75 minutes drive to the south is the Camargue with its enchanting wildlife including flamingoes and also the Mediterranean coastNimes, with a splendid Roman arena and excellent shops is only 30 minutes away, Avignon and many other attractions in Provence a 40 minutes drive and the amazing Pont du Gard just the other side of Uzes - a must.

By air: Low cost airlines to Nimes, Montpellier, Avignon and Marseilles.

By train: Eurostar and TGV direct from London to Avignon.
