Home description

The gite has been converted from part of a traditional Vosgienne farmhouse. It is owned by an English couple who invite you to come and spend your holiday relaxing in the Vosgienne countryside.

On site you will find a small equestrian centre offering lessons and trekking. Please contact the owners directly for more details.

The gite is a 50m² self contained unit adjoining the traditional Vosgienne farmhouse. It sleeps four with two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with twin beds. A travel cot is available on request.

The gite boasts exposed beams and consists of:

• Open plan lounge/kitchen/diner - the kitchen comes well equipped with a microwave oven, electric oven and hob, fridge freezer, coffee machine and automatic washing machine.
• Spacious double bedroom
• Twin bedroom
• Large wet room style shower
• Separate toilet

The gite is also equipped with a CD player, DVD player, iron and ironing board, and there is ample secure storage available for skis, and bikes etc.

No pets are allowed at the gite and we enforce a strict no smoking policy.

Outside:

The gite has its own private garden with garden furniture. A gas BBQ is available on request. There is ample off road parking with easy access to the gite.

About the location

The Local Villages:

La Chapelle Devant Bruyeres is a small friendly village with approximately 600 residents. The gite is ten minutes walk from the centre of the village where you will find a restaurant/bar and the local post office.

Ten minutes walk in the other direction will bring you into Laveline Devant Bruyeres; here you will find a bar, a traditional French cafe, a tabac (newsagents) a boulangerie (Bakers) and a post office.

The nearest supermarkets and petrol station are a five minute drive in the direction of the town Bruyeres. Bruyeres town centre has numerous bars, restaurants and cafes. There is a market held every Wednesday.

A ten minute drive will find you in Corcieux; the market day here is Friday. Corcieux is a popular tourist destination and you will find many activities in the vicinity such as horse riding, quad biking, karting, and swimming.

The Vosges Mountains are nestled in the Lorraine region of Eastern France, and are famous for their snow covered slopes which are the most northerly ski slopes in France. Two of the well known ski resorts in the area are Gerardmer and La Bresse.

The picturesque town of Gerardmer is a short twenty minute drive; here you have the stunning lake and access to the ski slopes. A further twenty minutes will take you to La Bresse a lovely tourist town also famous for its skiing.

Just 90 minutes drive from the German and Swiss borders the gite is ideally situated for discovering this beautiful part of Europe, a 30 minute drive will take you deep into the Alsace region of France, famous for its food and wine.

There are tourist information centres located in Corcieux and Gerardmer.

• Direct Ryan Air flights from Stansted to Baden Baden/Karlshrue, Germany. (2 hour drive from Baden Baden airport).

By Rail:

• Daily returns from Paris to St Die (30 minute drive)
• Daily returns from Paris to Epinal (30 minute drive)
• From 2007 the TGV will be in operation from Paris to Epinal. This journey will be possible in 2.5 hours.
