Quality Holiday Cottages with Pool near Beaches

These high quality cottages are brilliantly situated in the heart of France's micro-climate, just a few miles from sandy beaches, offering wonderful spring and autumn weather as well as long hot summers. Six pretty cottages situated in one hectare of private walled grounds near the Chateau. Each cottage has its own small garden and patio with barbecue. Secure parking on site. There is a large 16 metre x 8 metre pool which is solar heated, decked and fenced and set in an ideal sun trap. The cottages are very ancient but have been fully modernized while retaining all original features. The grounds are very attractive and provide ample room for informal games of football, badminton, volley ball etc. There is a sand pit for the younger ones as well as a slide and swings Additional Information Prices are based on 2 people per bedroom with a supplement of £75 pp pw or part thereof for one extra by prior arrangement. Pets are welcome but usually accepted only in low season by prior arrangement only @ supplement of £45 pw + an extra damages deposit of £50. Linen, cot, high chair etc can be hired from the caretakers - just let us know. All cottages have stair gates for the safety of little ones. Smokers are respectfully requested to do so out-of-doors: thanks. Utilities payable out of peak season, standard charge of €29 for 2 bedrooms, €39 for 3 bedrooms and €49 for 4 bedrooms.

Caretakers are on site all year and the owners, who are English, (Catherine Broughton is the popular novelist) are there in the summer and sometimes the rest of the year.

The village of St Just is 10 minutes walk away and has basic facilities. Marennes is four miles away and has all shops and bank. The area is famous for its beaches, historic towns and seaside ports. Short breaks: we take short breaks (3 nights) at any time of year except July & August. Two bedrooms: £280, three bedrooms:£299, and 4 bedrooms £360:- these prices include linen and utilities for 2 people with an extra £18 pp pw for others.   For prices that have been slashed to fill last-minute availability please note that utilities are not included.  All prices are net to the owners.

(NB We do not give refunds for client cancellation and insurance is strongly recommended.  If you cancel less than one month before your holiday you will be liable for the whole rent if we cannot re-let.)

Situated in the heart of France's micro-climate, just a few miles from sandy beaches, with its wonderful spring and autumn weather as well as long hot summers. The cottage is ye olde worlde stone built with heavy beams. All furniture is modern and comfortable but in keeping with the style. All utilities are modern as is the TV satelite system and the Wi Fi. The cottage is easy to maintain and well insulated.

Cottage 2 comprises:

• Living room/kitchen - large area (60 sq m) comfortable sofas and chairs, dining table for 8, modern fully fitted kitchen, with ancient features and artifacts.

About St Just Luzac in Charente-Maritime, Poitou Charentes

One of the best-kept secrets of this area is the wonderful spring and autumn climate. Indeed, the climate is wonderful in the summer too, and bright and sunny in the winter. However, during spring and autumn there are frequent warm lazy days and many would consider it the best time of year here. The cottages are situated about five miles from the bridge to the Isle d Oleron on the south west coast of France. The local village St. Just is a ten minute walk away along our own leafy lane to the village road.

In the village is quite a good restaurant, a small supermarket, a tabac and a baker. A little further away is a butcher, a wine and beer specialist, a chemist and a hair dresser.

Marennes is our nearest town about four miles away which has two big supermarkets, open makets (night time Fridays in season) banks etc there are many places to eat especially seafood on the local ports.

There is a good range of beaches from the giant man made sea lagoon at Marennes ideal for the littlies to the renowned surfing beaches of the cote sauvage and Oleron plus the miles of sandy beaches in almost every direction.

Of interest in the area are Saintes a Roman town on the river Charente, Brouage, a fortified village five miles from here, La Rochelle the famouse port and Royan the classic tourist town. Along the coast there are loads of places to walk and ride (bikes for hire in the area)

The Island of Oleron is just over the big bridge and is a facinating plase in itself especially for water sports, beaches and just general chilling out!

How To Get To St Just Luzac in Charente-Maritime, South West France

There are cheap (sometimes stunningly cheap out of high season) flights with Ryan Air and FlyBe to the nearest airport at La Rochelle, which is some 20-30 mins' drive away. The nearest ferry port is St Malo - about 5 hours' drive. Calais will take you 8 hours. International airport at Bordeaux, one hour along the motorway. TGV train in to La Rochelle.
