Home description

With five properties to choose from we are sure they will suit families and couples alike. We also have a converted Dairy that has facilities for disabled.

The Farm and Gites of Keranmeriet are set in 70 acres of stunning Breton countryside, yet only 15 minutes from miles of sandy beaches. This picturesque landscape is perfect for people searching for a place to relax and unwind in. Children can explore without parents worrying, as the nearest road is 500 metres away.

You have full use of the 12m x 6m pool (40ft by 20ft) which is fenced meeting E.U. regulations. There is also a children’s play area with swings and sandpit. Five minutes walk takes you through wooded tracks down to the meadow. The meadow is idyllic and a great suntrap on cooler days.

Here you will find a kilometre of the protected river Aven, where you can fish, paddle or picnic. There is also a Trout pond where you may be able to catch your dinner.  In the high season you can explore the area on Horse back with our onsite Stables. 

All this is surrounded by acres of woods to make it a truly special and tranquil place.

We are in an exceptional position to explore the many attractions this region has to offer. Keranmeriet is only 2 minutes from the nearest market town - Rosporden 'city of ponds' and 10 minutes drive to the Artist’s town of Pont Aven. The many miles of sandy beaches are within easy reach and should you wish you could choose a different beach every day. We are also a short drive away from Concarneau a bustling fishing town with a market everyday and a medieval walled town within.

Fresh fruit, vegetables and eggs are available to purchase subject to seasons (and the chickens!).

There are Five Gites within the farm: Odet, Belon, Moros, Minaouet (3 bedrooms/sleeps 6 plus baby), Aven (4 bedrooms/ sleeps 8 plus baby) and the Dairy (1 bedroom/sleeps 2/4).  Renovation completed between 2005 and 2007.

All the Cottages have balcony windows with panoramic views of the Aven Valley. They have been sympathetically converted whilst still retaining original stone and wood features.

This cottage has been designed on one level and is open plan; it would suit couples, elderly and disabled. It has recently been renovated from the original farm dairy and retains existing wood and stone features.

• Lounge Area - the entrance is through large French windows that look out onto your own garden. It has been furnished to a high standard with a corner sofa and a coffee table with satellite T.V., English and French, D.V.D. and C.D. player. There are games and books for evenings. Heating by electric heaters.
• Kitchen/Dining Area - the Kitchen is modern and fully equipped with, electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, toaster, kettle, coffee percolator, ironing board and iron. Dining table and chairs. Highchairs are available on request.
• Bedroom - furnished with pine furniture there are two single beds, dressing table, wardrobe and bedside cabinets. There is also a sofabed in the lounge, should you wish to accommodate a family of four. There are two windows with different aspects overlooking the beautiful scenery.
• Bathroom - this room has been designed to accommodate a wheelchair and the shower is floor level.

The Garden:

The Garden is fenced and has a terrace with garden furniture, parasol and BBQ, where you can relax with a glass of Bordeaux and enjoy the views.

About the location

Keranmeriet is in a central location to explore Brittany. Only minutes from the delights of a traditional French market or a short drive to sample the many attractions this region has to offer. Choose from shopping in the medieval streets of Quimper, wandering around the many Galleries and Water Mills of  Pont Aven, cruising to the glorious Glenan Archipelago or meandering through the megaliths at Carnac. And if you want to taste the seafood that Brittany is famous for look no further than Concarneau a short drive from Keranmeriet. Alternatively you can just relax in the tranquillity of this glorious natural setting, with its abundant wildlife. You can take a stroll in 35 acres of woods, go fishing in our small Trout Lake or just pack a picnic and laze along the banks of the pretty river Aven.  During July and August we have organised with our local Stables to have Pony Trekking available so you can view the beautiful scenery that surrounds us on Horse back.  Every Cottage has an information pack with lots of material on places to visit, best beaches, where to eat and shop.

Journey Times: Roscoff – 1.5 hours approx, St Malo – 2 1/2 hours approx, Caen - 4 hours approx, Cherbourg - 4 hours approx, Brest Airport - 1½ hours approx, Lorient Airport 35 mins.  We have allowed plenty of time for your journey.

By Air: There are several airports within 30 mins to an hour of Keranmeriet and these are serviced by various airlines. We have listed their website addresses for your information as flights and prices can change frequently.

By Sea: Several cross-channel ferries sail direct to Brittany and we have
named some of the ones closest to us. There are other ports and it is worth looking on their websites or calling them for the best travel route for you.
