Home description

The gites are set in a tiny hamlet surrounded by fields of sunflowers, vineyards and beautiful rolling countryside 4km from Aigre with its market, shops and restaurants. The two gites have been created from traditional farm buildings but retaining the characteristics of the area with exposed stone walls, oak beams and polished wooden floors. Both have open plan living areas, English satelliteTV, DVD & CD playersand well equipped kitchen with gas cooker, fridge, dishwasher and microwave. New for 2010 is WiFi Internet access.

Outside  to the front, there is a large garden with seating areas. There is also ample shaded parking. There is an enclosed walled area with a 10m x 5m  heated swimming pool, Roman steps and  under water lighting.  At the rear of the gites is a secluded garden with barbecues and seating.

The Old Stables have also been tastefully renovated to a very high standard retaining a wealth of original features stonewalls, oak beams and A frames. They have a cottage feel they are well furnished and are a mix of contemporary and original features. They have polished wooden floors throughout.

• Large living, dining and kitchen area with French doors opening onto a secluded rear garden

Upstairs

2 very generously sized bedrooms

• Bedroom 1 has a king sized bed a window with a scenic view and a velux window there is ample storage space and two bedside tables.
• Bedroom 2 has two single beds a window overlooking the courtyard, ample storage space and two bedside tables.
• Large contemporary style shower room with a large walk in shower, large washbasin, w.c. and feature fireplace.

On arrival you will find a welcome hamper containing bread, milk, eggs, conserves, orange juice, white and red wine.

About the location

Les Hirondelles is ideally located to experience all the Charente has to offer. Numerous picturesque villages and medieval towns are just waiting to be explored. Romanesque churches, abbeys, renaissance buildings, chateaux and Roman ruins are all within easy driving distance. The region, famous for producing Cognac and Pineau offers beautiful rolling countryside, air that is clean and clear and a microclimate with around 2700 hours of sunshine a year, the second sunniest area in France.
