This is an attractive traditional colombage house overlooking the historical village of Le Bec Hellouin and its fine Benedictine Abbey and grounds (open to the public).

The house features beamed ceilings and exposed framework, faces south ovelooking its garden. There is a large Garage with good car parking space in front. There is a very useful mostly glazed Garden Room used for eating and relaxing throughout the day during the warmer months. There is a lovely south facing Terrace for relaxing and outside eating. The kitchen has been refitted and is easy to work in. The en suite shower cloakroom to the main bedroom and the family bathroom were refitted about 6 years ago.

The garden is very colourful during the season with grass and plant beds and borders.

There is oil fired radiator central heating and a recently installed woodburner in the sitting room.

About the location

The property is ideally situated for the Normandy coast south of the Seine at Deauville and Honfleur etc taking about 40 minutes towards the west and north of the Seine at Etretat, Fecamp etc taking about 60 minutes drive via the Brotonne or Tancarville bridges. The Seine Valley from Villequier, Caudebec en Caux and Jumieges to Rouen, (40 minutes towards the north), Monet's garden at Giverny, Paris etc.

The village has 3 restaurants and a bar, a village shop for basic provisions plus bread and a small post office facility. A further restaurant, full of charm is near the next door village to the west - Pont Authou where the "grand dame" serves up some great meals at a very reasonable price. This is located on the road from Pont Authou to Brionne. Horse riding is available from the nearby equestrian centre.

Brionne is the nearest town (about 4 miles) with market days on a Thursday and Sunday. There is also a local Logis de France hotel with a great restaurant and the charming Auberge de Donjon hotel/ restaurant in Brionne overlooking the market square.

There are Intermache and Carrefour supermarkets, both selling petrol and diesel in Brionne.

For younger children there is a boating lake at Brionne with a good sandy "beach" and there are other attractions for them all within an hours drive.

For golfers, there is a very scenic 18 hole course at Champs de Bataille (about 20 mins drive to the east) where there is also a lovely chateau with a superb recently created garden on mammoth scale. There is also a new brasserie style restaurant at the Chateau and an excellent restaurant at the golf club next door. Hungry golfers are therefore very well catered for.

The Normandy Beaches are about an hours + drive away depending upon traffic. They really are worth a visit together with their coastal villages. Caen and Bayeaux are about 1 hour + drive away and well worth a day visit.

There are plenty of places to visit all within a very reasonable driving distance including some Calvados tasting locations!.

How to get here

Easy drive down from the channel ports of Calais or Boulogne - about 2.5 hours drive  in total via the A16 to Abbeville, then A28 to Rouen, A13 towards Caen and then turning off at sortie 25 onto the new A28 Autoroute from Rouen to Alencon. The exit to Brionne off the new A28 is the 1st exit, after about 10 miles and only about 4 miles from the village. 

Dieppe is even closer being just over an hours drive south from the port via N27 to Totes, N29 to Yvetot, then south to Caudebec en Caux, over the Brotonne Bridge across the Seine and then south to the A13 and onto the A28 at junction 25 as above.

Le Havre is about an hour away via the A131, over the Tancarville Bridge onto the A13 and east to Sortie 25 as above.

From Charles De Gaulle airport north of Paris, drive south onto the Peripherique, turn west, and then out onto the A13 to Rouen - Caen etc and come off at sortie 25. The journey takes about 1.5+ hours depending upon traffic.
