Home description

We run two studio apartments from our family home. The apartments are set on the side of the house and have seperate entrances and terraces for each Studio. You have access to the grounds of a large romantic garden where there is a stone table in the middle of the lawn where you can dine and watch the sun go down over the Pyrenees.

The best months by far are September and October when there are far less people around and you can still enjoy the wonderful warm temeratures. In Spring time March and April are fantastic with warm sunny days and clear stary nights the temeratures can easily be 25 deg C during the day, ideal for walking and exporing our local towns.

We are set in the heart of this beautiful region, which boasts amazing nature, a fabulous coast line, magnificent mountains, picturesque villages and a unique culture. Just 15 minutres from the beach and walking distance from the house to La Rhune and GR10 Routes.

The Basque region is la piece de la resistance for all creative souls who are searching for inspiration for their artist easel, camera tripod or writers pen, as this whole area lends itself at every corner for charm, tradition and stunning scenery.

Studios

We have two spacious self contained studio apartments with a private access. Total area of each studio is 30 Sq metres (300 sq ft). Each room has comfortable seating areas and your own private terrace with sun chairs and use of a stone barbeque, including a picture perfect view of the Pyrenees. Enjoy the freedom in this romantic and impressive setting and with the added convenience of being able to set your own times and cater for yourself. WIFI computer connection available if you want to bring your PC.

About us

The Pyrenees Atlantic region really does have all we dreamt of and is a world all of its own.

We live here with our young family since January 2005 when we fell in love with the house and the surrounding countryside. This is truly a magnificent and inspiring region of France and now one of our favourite places in the world. We invite you to stay with us and enjoy the studios as your own home for however long you want to stay. We will guide you to some of the best beaches, walks, towns and villages we have discovered here in the Pays Basque region.

Your private entrance to the studio is via double doors, which can be closed against the heat of the day with traditional wooden shutters. It is easily accessible via a cobbled path through the garden.

• Main room - a large double bed which has the added comfort of an electronic adjustment facility. The beds can also be arranged as two single beds within the room. There are two comfortable chairs, and a reading table also in the room.
• En-suite - a large tiled bathroom with double wash basins, a shower, and a full sized bath and toilet.
• Kitchen - newly fitted kitchenette with modern appliances and all cooking implements, including a fridge, gas hob, mini oven and kettle. A comfortable seating area is set out in the kitchen.
• Terrace - double doors lead to the terrace, which has sun chairs and outdoor furniture for al fresco dining.
• Garden - the garden has a stone built barbeque for your convenience and shaded seating areas overlooking the Pyrenees.

An iron and ironing board are available.

Babies - a travel cot and high chair are available.

About the location

We are situated inbetween the mountains and the sea, an ideal location for exploring right the into the heart of the beautiful Basque country. 

We are situated on the Spanish border so you can get much cheaper petrol, cigarettes and wine, leather and many other local Spanish provisions, just over the border

Biarritz centre and airport is only 20 minutes by car and is on an easy and pretty route.

The graden has a view of the high peaks of the Pyrenees and her lush rolling pastures. This area has breath taking scenery and a magical atmosphere, and is a haven of peace and tranquillity.

Explore at your leisure the local fishing and mountain villages with their abundance of history, mythology and tradition. Discover the wonder of perfectly clean sandy beaches and crashing waves along the Atlantic Cote Basque which is only a 15 minute drive to the nearest beach.

How to get here

By air: Direct flights are available into Biarritz from Dublin and London Stanstead daily. Car hire is available for the airport via all the major operators and it is a 20 minutes drive to La Colombe, Taxi’s are available from the airport and the trip is just 20 minutes.

By train: St Jean de Luz has a station and the SCNF from Paris takes 5 hours.

By road and ferry: We are easily accessible by three major ports the nearest being Bilbao 2.5 hours away and Santander 5 hours away. St Malo is 9.5 hours drive. The Autoroute/Payage number A63 passes St Jean de Luz junction 2 (St Jean de Luz, sud).
