About the location

In between Cenac and La Rocque Gageac, in a geographical triangle between Sarlat, Souillac and Gourdon, you are within minutes of restaurants, cafes, bars, 'tout les commerces' supermarket, banks, pharmacies, doctors, dentist and two excellent hospitals.

The former Perigord capital of Sarlat is only 9 km from Les Campagnes with its beautiful internationally renowned medieval centre. Sarlat is blessed with a wonderful market on Saturday mornings, which trails from the market place along twisting, honey-coloured streets. Here you can buy anything from foie grass to lace, fresh fish to local arts and crafts.

Cenac is the local village, about 1 km away, and contains all necessary shops, including a big supermarket, bars/cafés restaurants, a bank, pharmacy, post office etc.

The Perigord and Quercy are rural France at its best and this house gives you an ideal base from which to discover the area. A wealth of prehistoric, historic and scenic interests allow you to enjoy a multi-interest holiday, while at the same time the tranquil, restful surroundings also makes it ideal, should you wish a truly relaxing holiday. With 'Les Campagnes' being so central to this beautiful region no tourist site of repute is far away.

In fact only 3 kms away, and constantly voted France's most picturesque village is La Rogue Gageac clinging to the cliffs that edge the River Dordogne. The fortified bastide town of Domme can be seen from the garden, the beautiful village of Beynac, Vitrac and the magnificent St. Cyprien are all close by.

A little further a field can be found Les Eyzies, Montpazier and Rocamadour. The list is endless and is there for you to discover.

Numerous world famous cave systems are to be found in the locality and Chateaux are more numerous than in the Loire.

The sightseeing is inexhaustible, the leisure activities numerous. Lastly, and some would say most importantly, the Dordogne is known as the 'Kitchen of France'. Gastronomy is a way of life, and we are only too happy to pass on the restaurants we've discovered over the years that we have lived here. You will not be disappointed. Should you have any further enquiries please do not hesitate to contact us; we look forward to hearing from you. Few visitors to the Dordogne, if any, have failed to be enchanted by the area; in fact many people come back year upon year.
