Two Charming 17th Century Stone Cottages with Pool

Aux Vachers Ouest is a collection of restored 17th century stone buildings, including the original farmhouse and barn, situated in the small hamlet of Les Vachers in the SW corner of the Dordogne where it borders the Gironde and Lot et Garonne.

'La Residence' and 'The Cottage' are two delightful, well-equipped, comfortably furnished properties in a lovely garden setting with a large swimming pool. The cottages are independent of each other and both have a private patio and BBQ. The swimming pool (11mx12m) is surrounded by an attractive rockery and tiled terrace with ample sun beds and parasols. A field to one side of the garden, but well away from the pool is ideal for children’s games. There is also table tennis on site. 

The Swimming Pool

Pretty gardens and trees surround and shield the large swimming pool (11mx12m), which has a sophisticated filtration system giving clear water that is virtually chemical free and should not irritate the eyes. The tiled sun terrace has ample lounging furniture, tables, chairs and parasols. The pool is equipped with alarms which conform to French Safety Standards and is shared by both properties. A field to one side of the garden but well away from the pool is ideal for children’s games and there is also table tennis on site.

• Light, airy ‘L’shaped open plan living room which provides a spacious and comfortable sitting/dining area with a large kitchen.
• The kitchen is fully equipped with a double sink unit, gas cooker, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer.
• French doors open from the kitchen onto a secluded private patio with garden furniture and a BBQ, ideal for al-fresco dining.
• Two bedrooms sleep 4 people, one with a double bed and the other twin beds.
• Shower room
• Separate spacious WC with a basin and washing machine.

• Private patio with barbecue, garden furniture and parking.
• The swimming pool, garden and table tennis are shared with La Residence.

About Thenac in Dordogne, Aquitaine

Aux Vachers Ouest provides a perfect location for a peaceful and picturesque holiday amongst the vines of the Bergerac wine growing area. However, at the same time it is within easy reach of all the amenities and attractions of the beautiful Dordogne Valley and the vineyards of St Emilion and Bordeaux. The tiny hamlet of Les Vachers is 8kms from Sigoules. 25kms from Bergerac and 18kms from Ste Foy la Grande. Sigoules is ideal for daily shopping needs with all the usual amenities including a small supermarket whilst the medieval fortified towns of Bergerac, Ste Foy la Grande. Eymet and Duras have picturesque weekly markets as well as comprehensive shopping facilities.

The summer season in the Dordogne offers a number of events and Bergerac hosts many ranging from a four day open air festival culminating in a magnificent firework display on 14th July to a regular twice weekly market, concerts,  jazz and art exhibitions. Many of the smaller towns, such as Eymet have a weekly evening market where it is possible to wander around, choose supper from one of the stalls, wine from another, find a table, sit down and enjoy the street entertainment.
