Riverside - Town house Holiday Rental in Dinan, Côtes-d'Armor, France

This was the second time I stayed in Dinan, staying in the same accommodation which provided all the amenities we could possibly need.  The location was ideal for the restaurants (pizzeria is highly recommended) and is even better first thing in the morning for a stroll to the local bakers (try the Custard Cake). 

Dinan itself is a lovely place to walk around, along the Castle Ramparts and the old town, if you need anything then the main town and supermarkets are close by.  The house opens onto the river, and a cycle along the towpath is highly recommended, along with a stop at the cafe for a cider top up on a hot day.

Dinan is also ideal as a base to explore further, a must is Mont st Michel, also recommend a day in St Malo old town and a trip to Fougeres Castle.

The house itself is in a beautiful setting overlooking the river, with a little court yard at the back which is ideal to cool off, and maybe even have an early evening barbecue.  The furnishings are comfortable and the amenities were of a very high standard, if your planning a trip to Dinan then I cannot recommend this place highly enough (parking is on the road straight outside).

We found the location very convenient and the property delightful. Watching the boats pass by the front door as we sat at the dining table was a bonus. We could leave the car and walk most days as we were close to restaurants, canoes and the petit train to take us up the steep hill to the old town. We found this the most relaxing of the properties we rented in France this year and we stayed two weeks. There was always something interesting to do and see on the river. The house was well supplied with everything we needed and the bakery was within an easy walk and supermarket a short drive away. I would heartily recommend the property.

Lovely property in a beautiful location on the banks of the River Rance. Large open kitchen and snug sitting room downstairs, whilst upstairs is a salon with French windows opening onto the river, two bedrooms and a shower room with a lovely, powerful, hot shower!  I have visited the property on numerous occasions, at Christmas, Easter and during the summer (but outside school holidays) and it's always been a pleasure - the summer months because you can sit in the upstairs salon with the French doors open watching boats going past whilst you devour coffee and croissants and the winter because you can close the shutters, shut out the bad weather and cosy down. 

Plenty of exercise available - level walks/cycle rides (2 adult bikes available) along the Rance in both directions (to Lehon or St Samson sur Rance), or take the steep Rue du Petit Fort up to Dinan, or join the French who seem to spend every spare hour running both along the river and up the hill!

Dinan is a beautiful old town worth exploring in its own right and is also well situated to cover the whole of Eastern Brittany and Western Normandy, from Fougere to the Granite Rose Coast, Mont-St-Michel to Vannes or Nantes.
