Restored Old French Country House with Large Heated Swimming Pool

'Maison Pierre’  in  ‘Le Village du Bois’ is an 18th century French country house restored in 2002. This 4-star rated Gîte de France house provides luxurious accommodation for up to 8 discerning holiday makers.  It benefits from a peaceful  rural situation, gardens of over an acre and a large heated swimming pool (12m x 6m) .

The house is equipped to the highest standards with quality furnishings throughout. Bed linen and towels are provided as well as a generous welcome pack. There is a spacious kitchen/dining room, a large sitting room and  three double bedrooms, one en-suite.
 
It is one of only four dwellings in a peaceful hamlet of Le Village du Bois, an ideal area for walking or gentle cycling with little traffic. You can explore the countryside using a network of lanes leading to forgotten hamlets and peaceful rivers where you can fish, sunbathe or picnic. There are many attractions both nearby and further afield ...or you can simply stay by the pool and relax.
 

Holiday Accommodation at Le Village du Bois

'La Maison Pierre'  is fully equipped and provides extremely comfortable accommodation for up to 8 people.

At garden level there is a large kitchen fully fitted with extensive and modern Italian units, Bosch cooker, electric hob, dishwasher micro-wave oven and fridge/freezer.  Quality cooking utensiles and china for up to 16 seatings is provided.  The dining area leads out on the terrace.  There is also a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

On the ground floor there is a sitting room with leather settees and chairs, bookcase (games and books for all ages) and DVD/TV centre.  This has an original tiled floor and underfloor heating. On this floor there is also a double bedroom with en-suite shower room and separate WC.

The first floor offers large second bedroom with double bed, chest of drawers wardrobe, bedside tables etc.  The third bedroom is ideal for up to 4 children and has two sets of full size bunk beds, a wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside table.  There is a spacious family bathroom with bath, shower, wash basin and WC .  A cot, high chair, changing mat, baby bath and potty are provided.

Outside. There is an enormous front lawned area for games, gravelled front entrance drive and parking for three or more cars. There is a small second terrace equipped with wooden furniture.  The secluded rear garden has a large terrace fully equiped for outside dining with furniture, parasol, and barbecue. There is a large lawned area with table–tennis table and garden chairs, children's swings, paddling pool, boules, and a selection of bicycles. The swimming pool is securely fenced and measures 12m x 6m x 1.5m constant depth and is heated May to October.  There is underwater lighting and the garden can also be lit at night.

Winter Letting

The house is suitable for winter letting as it has been insulated to the highest standard, has underfloor heating powered by an ecolgical system which is extremely cheap to run.  There is a wood burning stove and logs are provided.

About St Pierre De Maille in Vienne, Poitou Charentes

The nearest village, St Pierre de Maillé, is within 2 kms and provides cafés and bars, a supermaket, post office, tennis courts, horse-riding, rock-climbing  and hairdressers. Within easy reach are numerous restaurants, chateaux, gardens to visit, several local markets, two night clubs, vineyards and off-road walking and cycling. Locally there is a famous spa town for those wanting to have beauty or stress reducing treatments.

For children there are lots of activity choices including zoos, go-karting, paintballing, river and lake swimming, and canoeing.

Even with all these things within easy access the local area is calm and never 'crowded'. The scenery is simply stunning and is a photographers or artists idea of heaven. Just sitting in the garden you can relax and watch the wonderful array of birds and butterflies in perfect peace.

How To Get To St Pierre De Maille in Vienne, South West France

By air: Maison Pierre is 40 minutes from the airport at Poitiers with its cheap flight connection with the UK. Car hire is available at the airport, or pick-up transport can be arranged.   Alternative airports are Limoges, La Rochelle or Tours, all within an easy drive.

By road: There are good road links from all the channel ports via the A 28/A10 autoroutes. (Caen 3:30 hours). Route directions supplied on request.

By train: The excellent TGV will take you from Paris to Poitiers in 90 minutes. There is also a Eurostar link via Lille or Paris or Brussels.
