Beautiful 14th Century Charentaise Farmhouse

Le Fuand is a beautiful 14th Century, Charentaise Farmhouse affording self-catering accommodation for up to 10 people.

Set in 1.5 acres of private garden amid the rolling hills of the Poitou Charentes Region of France.

Situated in the picturesque village of Azay-Sur-Thouet, 5km west of the town of Parthenay.

Ideally situated for trips to the historic towns of Poitiers, with its Futuroscope Theme Park, Parthenay and La Rochelle with its nearby sandy beaches on the island of Ile De Rè.
 
The nearby village of Secondigny has a Wooded Park with lake, swimming pool and restaurant.

Holiday Accommodation at The Farmhouse

This traditional farmhouse property has 5 bedrooms accommodating up to 10 people, plus 3 bathrooms, a spacious lounge, kitchen and garden - with all required facilities, including satellite TV, washing machine and barbecue area.

Ground Floor:

• Lounge - spacious oak beamed lounge with polished wood floor. French doors lead out to the rear garden. Wood burning stove set in large old fireplace. To relax after a day's exploring there is Satellite TV, Radio / Cassette / CD Player.
• Kitchen - traditional farmhouse kitchen. Large oak beamed kitchen / Dining area with tiled floor.
  Equipped with electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge and coffee maker. Furnished with a large oak dining table with benches and chairs to seat ten persons. A pleasure to cook and dine in.
• Utility Room - off the kitchen, this room has washing and drying facilities. Shower, Wash Basin and Toilet.
• Downstairs Bedroom - this bedroom has two single beds, a pine wardrobe and chest of drawers. In the room is a large old fireplace and wood-beam ceiling.

Upstairs:

• Bedroom Two - this room features a King Size Iron Framed bed with views of the rear garden and courtyard. Furnished with wardrobe and chest of drawers. A room with character and tranquillity.
• Bedroom Three - this bedroom has a large double bed, pine wardrobe and chest of drawers. Heavy oak beams add character to this and the other rooms.
• Bedroom Four - this bedroom contains a pine double bed, bedside drawer units and built in shelves for storage. Ideal for adults or children.
• Bedroom Five - this room contains two single beds with bedside drawer units. Built in wardrobes compliment the space in this room.
• Bathrooms - the house is well served by three bathrooms, comprising a shower room with toilet & washbasin on the ground floor. A master bathroom includes bath, washbasin. There is a separate toilet. The shower-room on the first floor also has a washbasin and toilet.

About Azay Sur Thouet in Deux-Sèvres, Poitou Charentes

Azay-Sur-Thouet is a small village situated, on the main road, between Parthenay and Secondigny. About 5 / 7kms from each. Le Fuand is 2kms from the centre of Azay.
In the village there is a boulangerie which also sells other foods, biscuits, cakes etc but for general food shopping a visit to Secondigny or Parthenay is required. There is a “Marie”, a bar and very old church in the village.

Places of Interest

Explore the historic towns of Parthenay, La Rochelle and Poitiers.
Enjoy the beaches & sailing on the island of Ile De Ré and the many activities at Secondigny and Moncoutant and a day out for all the family at Futuroscope Theme Park.

• Parthenay - explore medieval Parthenay with its historic castle and church. The attractive small town, which is 5Km away, was once an important stop on the pilgrim routes to Santiago de Compostela.
  Parthenay has a medieval heart with a pedestrian shopping area leading to the gothic Porte de l'Horloge, the fortified gateway to the old citadel. Along Rue de la Citadelle is a house where Cardinal Richelieu used to visit his grandfather.
  Parthenay has many banks, shops, bars, restaurants, a “Hyper U” supermarket, DIY supermarkets, sports facilities, garages etc all that you would expect from a large town.
• La Rochelle - this old port is a place to discover history. Shop, eat, drink and savour the ambience.
  Situated on the Atlantic Coast south-west of Azay-Sur-Thouet, La Rochelle is approximately one hour drive from the farmhouse. Boat trips to Fort Bouyard take visitors to see its sea defences and prison.
• Ile De Ré - interesting island reached by spectacular bridge. Sandy beaches, sand-dunes and woodland make the island an adventure to explore on foot and on bicycle. Sailing and windsurfing are popular. Places of interest and good restaurants are to be found.
• Secondigny - small town 5km west of Azay-Sur-Thouet. There is a park with a Lake, Les Effres - Swimming Pool, Pedalos, Boules and Picnic Areas and Restaurant. Tennis Courts and Library are close. In the town are banks, supermarket, bars, restaurants shops and a cinema.
• Poitiers - town of art and history. It offers the possibility of a walk through several centuries of architecture. Good shops, bars and restaurants. There is a lake-side beach at Base de Loisirs de Saint-Cyr, with sailing and windsurfing.
• Futuroscope - an interesting day for the adventurous. A theme park with a difference. Films, 3D-Films, Video games, interactive video games, laser light shows and more at this “high tec” theme-park.
