Luxurious Apartment for Two with Magnificent Views of Suisse Normande

Chateau La Cour dates back to the 13th Century and is the largest and oldest property in the area. The house has been painstakingly restored, retaining many of the original features, but without compromising on comfort. The apartment is reached by its own private staircase off the main stone staircase of Chateau La Cour.

The property is ideal for visiting the Landing beaches and the Bayeux tapestry.

The apartment has its own staircase which leads off the main Chateau staircase.  This leads to a parquet floored landing with floor to ceiling windows and on to the double oak doors of the 2nd floor apartment. The oak doors open into a light, spacious, stylish and contemporary apartment.

• The living area has comfy linen sofas to relax in, sophisticated lighting and elegant soft furnishings.
• The kitchen is in the corner, a showpiece of stainless steel and top quality kitchen equipment – Global knives, Smeg hob and dishwasher and state of the art multi function oven.
• Set into the window alcove is the dining table, enjoying panoramic views of the garden and the Normandy countryside.
• The bedroom is large and tastefully furnished. The king-size bed has hydraulic controls for maximum comfort and can also be converted into 2 singles if required (just let us know). The soft furnishings are sumptuous, full length curtains, lots of plump cushions and ample comfortable seating.  The floor to ceiling wardrobe provides lots of hanging and storage space.
• The bathroom is the undoubted star of the show – a place to pamper yourself! The centre piece is the free standing bath perfectly positioned to enjoy wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. There is also a large hydro massage shower cabinet, twin hand basins and a separate toilet.

Chateau La Cour is an ideal base for exploring the Normandy coast and its diverse attractions.  Visit the D-Day landing beaches – Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword.  See the Bayeux tapestry – the story of a very different Norman invasion.  Enjoy the sophisticated pleasures that Deauville and Honfleur can offer.   Or just soak up the atmosphere of one of the many local markets that take place daily.

For those who wish to explore further afield, the excellent French autoroutes make this eminently possible. Monet’s garden, the medieval city of Rouen and Mont St Michel can all be visited in a day. The horseracing at Deauville during August is a revelation. The quality of racing is high, the on course facilities are first class and the entry fee to everywhere on the course is very reasonable.

Normandy offers a wide range of options for dining. For that special occasion, there are a number of Michelin starred restaurants within driving distance of Chateau La Cour. At the other end of the spectrum there are family run Auberges that offer traditional French cuisine at remarkably low prices. Culey Le Patry has its own Auberge, next to the church that offers a set 4 course lunch weekdays at a very reasonable cost – cider or wine included!

Or alternatively, guests can dine in the evening at Chateau La Cour. We offer a choice of supper or dinner subject to prior arrangement. All evening meals are hosted and provide the ideal opportunity to relax in convivial company and learn more about this part of Normandy.

• Dover – Calais or Boulogne by many operators, 3 ½ hours drive to Chateau La Cour

By Car

• From Caen (exit 11) or from the south travel on the D562. At Pont de la Mousse, 5 kms south of Thury Harcourt, take the D133 for Culey Le Patry over the River Orne. Turn left onto the D166 then take the third right onto the D211. Chateau La Cour is on the right, on the approach to the village, just after a minor road to the right.
