This beautifully constructed modern 5 bedroom house is set in over an acre of land on the top of a hill with breathtaking views of a large lake, surrounding countryside and the picturesque Pyrenees. It is located just outside the small village of Doazon close to the market town of Arthez de Bearn. Artix is only 8 km away and has all the amenities you need (supermarket, pharmacie, Pattiserie etc).

Only a 20 minute drive from Pau airport and situated equal distance from the beautiful sandy beaches of Biarritz and Saint Jean de Luz and the majestic Pyrenees Mountains (approx 45 mins). The historic town of Pau is only a 20 minute drive with an abundance of cafes and restaurants that will enable you to sample the gastronomic delights of the Bearn region.

Place De La Mairie is ideal for large groups or families and whether you are just looking for a tranquil relaxing holiday and a base to explore the wonders of the Basque country or a holiday full of action and activities this is the place for you.

Accommodation detail

Place de La Mairie can easily accommodate 10 people and is furnished to a high standard and with all mod cons including central heating. The accommodation comprises:

Ground Floor

• Entrance hall leading into:
• Very large open plan living/dining room with large fireplace equipped with 2 sofas, Sky TV (Full Entertainment Package - Sky Movies and/or Sky Sports can be added for a small fee),  , DVD player,  CD player and stereo.  There is a large dining table that will comfortablty fit 10 adults.  There are French doors leading onto the shaded terrace with outside dining table which also seats 10 adults. 
• Kitchen - fully fitted and well equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher, fridge freezer (with chilled filtered water and ice making facilities), gas hob, electric oven, microwave, kettle and toaster. The large door opens onto the tiled barbeque area.
• Double Bedroom - large double bedroom with antique French oak furniture (double bed, double wardrobe and bed side table). Large French doors open onto the terrace.
• Twin Bedroom - equipped with 2 single beds each with bed side table and lamp.
• Master Bathroom - the spacious bathroom includes large corner bath with twin hand basins and separate shower. The WC is located next to main bathroom.
• Games Room - large games room equipped with sofa, Sky TV (Full Entertainment Package - Sky Movies and/or Sky Sports can be added for a small fee), DVD player and games consoles (Nintendo 64 and Playstation2 with numerous games). Pool table (also converts to table tennis) , table football and an electronic dartboard with pre-programmed games.  Some small children’s toys and games are also provided. A washing machine and tumble dryer are located in a large sliding cupboard in the games room.

First Floor

• Double Bedroom - very large double bedroom with dressing table and large wardrobe.  Separate access to main bathroom. Includes ceiling fan and electric window shutters.
• Double Bedroom - double bedroom with wardrobe, bed side table and chest of drawers. Includes ceiling fan and electric window shutters.
• Twin Bedroom - equipped with 2 single beds each with bed side table and lamp. Includes ceiling fan and electric window shutters.
• Bathroom - equipped with twin hand basins and separate shower and WC.

Outside

The house is south facing and set on top of the hill and the grounds and pool are completely private.  The swimming pool (10 x 5 metre) can be heated (incurs an additional fee) and has Roman stairs for easy access and a diving board.  It is also fitted with an underwater light and looks stunning when illuminated at night.   It is fitted with a cover that conforms with French Safety Laws.   It is professionally maintained to ensure your pool is kept clean and safe at all times. 

There is a large shaded terrace running along the back of the property equipped with a large table for dining leading onto a large balcony (also equipped with table) both of which have the benefit of the spectacular views. Beside the balcony is a permanent barbeque. The garden is well maintained with an abundance of flowers, mature shrubs & trees.

In the garage you will find 6 mountain bikes for your enjoyment.  2 mens, 2 womens, 1 for age 6 - 10 and one small bike for age 3 - 5

About the location

The historic town of Pau is only 20 mins away with it's ancient chateau housing some of the best tapestries in the world and the stunning Boulevard de Pyrenees.  Salies de Bearn with it's thermal baths is a short ride away.  The religous town of Lourdes is only 45 mins away.

The many vineyards of Jurancon are close by and offer a perfect opportunity to sample the local wine. San Sebastian (Spain) is about an hour away and the coastal towns of Biarritz and St Jean de Luz famous for it’s surfing are about 45 mins away. 2 hours north are the world famous wine regions of St Emillion, Paulliac and Margaux situated around the Dordogne.

• By air:  Pau 20 mins, Biarittz 45 mins, Tolouse 2 hrs, Bordeaux 2 hrs.
• By road: The house is situated only 10 mins from the A64.

• All prices are per week Saturday to Saturday.
• Arrival at 4pm departure at 10am.
• Heating is included during the winter.
• Easter, Christmas & New Year by quotation.
• Mid Week bookings welcome for out of peak seasons.
• Weekend bookings welcome for out of peak seasons (min 3 day stay).
• A 10% discount will be given for bookings of 3 weeks and over.
