Home description

This 18th century post house – which later became a farm house – is situated in a peaceful rural area, yet only 20 minutes drive from the wonderful sandy Normandy landing beaches, the historic town of Bayeux and all the attractions and activities offered in this wonderful corner of northern France.

Le Poste – as the house is locally known, is an old post house dating back to Napoleonic days. The more recent history is equally interesting as the previous owner was a lion tamer and in 1944, after the Normandy landings, part of our land was used by the American forces as an airfield and we have the old OS maps showing this.

The renovation of this property has taken over three years and where possible we have used authentic materials to preserve its appeal and sense of history – we did however draw the line at the outside toilet!  We hope you enjoy our house and the wonderful accommodation it offers.

Outside there are large, safe gardens, a large barbecue and many outside seating areas.

The accommodation comprises:

• 1 twin bedroom with single beds situated on the first floor,  with shower room and toilet en suite
• 1 triple bedroom consisting of a double and a single situated on the 1st floor with bath room and toilet en suite
• 1 triple bedroom consisting of a double and a single situated on ground floor, with shower room and toilet en suite 
• Lovely rustic beamed farmhouse kitchen/diner with large open fire place and log burner. Double oven/8 ring cooker, washing machine, fridge freezer, microwave etc. Huge dining table which can seat up to 12 and very comfortable dining chairs
• Lovely comfortable beamed lounge with log burner. big TV, hi-fi and a large selection of CDs, DVDs, and Video cassettes
• Conservatory leading into greenhouse
• Double glazing
• Electric central heating
• Sky TV both upstairs and downstairs
• Cot and high chair available

A 4th double bedroom with bathroom is available – please ask

About the location

While the property is in a peaceful rural setting, we are not far from the towns of St L0 and Bayeau which have many interesting, lively  restaurants and bars.

We are approximately 25 minutes drive from the Normandy landing beaches which also often have evening attractions during the summer months.

The trotting racetrack of Graine is about a 35 minute drive and a jolly good night out - trotting races with a buggy are not often seen in the UK
